Compost bin

Thread Starter
I live in a basement suite and would really like to compost. My landlords are sort of interested, but don't want a big ugly plastic thing because the yard is small so it would be the focal point. Anyone know of non-ugly compost bins? We don't have the tools or skills to make one and we've tried vermiculture for ourselves but not only was it a fruit fly disaster, it only took about 1/4 of our food waste. I live in Vancouver, BC if that helps.

Thanks!

Perhaps you can build something around the ugly plastic bin to hide it. Maybe grow some sunflowers around it.

I know you said you didn't want to vermicompost....

I do it, and got my bin from this place: northwestredworms.com

It's a large ceder two sided bin. So far no fruit fly problems, and the bin is really pretty.

Maybe you could try it again and find something like this type of bin.
