GA: Help with finding a New Doctor that is Alternative Vaccine Schedule Friendly in or Near Marietta

I went to my child's 15 month checkup today, and I told our pediatrician that I would like to delay all further vaccines for our son until he is 2. Then we will start a one vaccine at a time schedule.

While I love our pediatrician and their practice, I was told that they adhere closely to the guidelines set by the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the CDC. I was told that I needed to decide to go with that schedule, or find a new practice.

I need to see if anyone can offer a suggestion or if you go to a Pediatrician in the area that is more open to listening to parents concerns and will work with the mom on making a revised vaccination schedule. Or even a more Natural thinking Doc that will offer options. I don't want to be forced into this, however I do want the well baby care that my child needs.

I have read on the boards about one doctor in Norcross, and I guess I can go that far if I need to, but it's quite a ways - especially with gas as it is.

I live in Marietta, Georgia, Near Canton Highway and Shallowford Road or the Chastain Road Exit on 75. Our pediatrician is currently in Woodstock off Eagle Drive.

Any help that anyone can offer will be most appreciated.
Thank you,
Eileen

Hopefully someone will see this and help...you may also want to post in the Finding your Tribe area...that way people that are in your area will see it!

I have no idea how far you're willing to drive, but we have a good pediatrician in Rome. Probably too far for you, but PM me if you're interested.

Also, you might want to let your current Pediatrician know that the AAP recommends that pediatricians do NOT fire patients who do not adhere to the vaccine schedule, but that they should instead work with the parent. So, by firing you, your current pediatrician is going AGAINST what the AAP says.

Not sure if ths helps...

I live in Marietta, too. We go to Dr. Mark Long, Kennesaw Peds. They are off Wade Green Road. We absolutely don't vax at all. I haven't had a problem, other than having to sign, "the form". Not sure how they would handle a delayed schedule. I like them. There not uber NATURAL, but I don't see them for parenting stuff, I see them for medical stuff. We also generally don't do well baby visits either. We just go in when they are sick.

I live ITP in Brookhaven and we go to see Dr.Kute who is off of 400 - Medlock Bridge! We do not vax and she is ok with that. She will still give you a talk about how vax are important but will respect your choice to delay or do none at all! She came highly reccommended by our midwife and other homebirthers and so far we really like her our LO is 3 months old.

I did not know the AAP recommends against not firing patients!! Isn't that funnny! I am going to try to find that somewhere.

Rome is a little far for me to drive. Thank you though. I have heard of Dr Kute before, and she is 18 miles away. So were Dr Abrahms and Dunwoody Pediatrics. All 18 miles in different directions! I will check everyone out, and decide.

The whole thing makes me sick. We do want to do well baby visits because we want to be assured that my son is developing normally within the timelines that he is supposed to. So far So Good. We don't press for anything, just normal!

I have not heard of Kennesaw Peds yet, but I will put them on my short list to check out. I will check out everyone! Thank you for your referrals!

Doctor

Hi, We see Dr Abrams in Norcross and he is amazing. It is not far and well worth the drive. I was actually 'fired' by three practices in Marietta for not following the vaccination schedule. Dr. Abrams is so kind, respectful, and informative. I love this practice. He also has the mmr separate if you choose that direction. Good luck I know it can be frustrating, scary, and overwhelming!!
