Apr 1 --
Apr 2 -- Groceries: $51, Post Office: $31, Linens & Things: $15
Apr 3 --
Apr 4 -- Gifts for god daughter and dad: $15

I did well yesterday. We have three birthdays within the span of one week -- my sister, my dad, and our god daughter. But I'm trying to think of creative gifts that don't cost to much. Our god daughter got finger paint and side walk chalk (she's 2) and I got my dad a print. I still need to get him a frame for the print, but I should be able to get that for about $5. I got all the gifts at AC Moore with a 50% off coupon, so that helped.

Today will be a spend, as I have to pick up the frame and I'm treating myself to a breakfast sandwich on the way to work. It's budgeted, but frivolous. I think I'm going to add a smiley for budged but frivolous. I just hate going to work on Saturday mornings, so I like to give myself a treat.

-- No Spend
-- Spend within Budget
-- Budgeted by Frivolous
: -- Unplanned/Unbudgeted Spending

2/30 -- No Spend
2/30 -- Budget Spend
0/30 -- Budget, but Frivolous
0/30 -- Non Budget Spend

Week 1 -- 31 miles/100 miles

Hooray! Another no-spend day yesterday. So glad. So happy. I did find myself "window-shopping" online at Etsy and some of my favorite yarn and fiber stores, but I reminded myself that I wasn't spending. It's amazing how quickly I can forget and start getting excited about some thing I really love or something I want to work with, etc. But it's also amazing how fast I forget about it once I leave the store/website.

That's two no-spend days this month and two small frivolous spending days.

I love online window shopping! You still get the thrill of finding cool stuff (and can even bookmark it for later), but it's free. Sometimes I even fill my cart with whatever I want and then close it out.

I found myself on amazon last night, but I just checked reviews and ordered the books from the library. There was one our region doesn't have, but it will wait until more of my UFOs are done!

01: $134 groceries/household stuff - within budget but more than I meant to spend IYKWIM. However, I did get some PP pads, some labour drinks and a bit of extra meat to make PP meals for the freezer, so I got a lot for my money. DH spent $1 at work on a chocolate bar!
02: No spend!!! DH spent a tiny bit at work but this isn't his challenge....
03: DH spent $7 on playing football plus $1.5 on a drink afterwards. The weather was glorious so I took DS1 and DS2 to the park after school. I had packed snacks but DS1 accidentally dropped his and spilled them everywhere so I ended up with a $2 spend at the store for replacements.......
04: Needed butter but came out of the store with chocolate too So, that's $4 out of my grocery budget. I wanted a Coke later but I resisted so it wasn't all bad!!
05: $3 on groceries. Still within budget but wouldn't have bought this by choice, it was related to an argument with my DH about my trying to cut down on groceries and him claiming he is being left hungry??!?!
Posting a little early today because I'm heading to work, and taking my coffee with me so I won't buy anything there! I'm hoping tomorrow will be a no spend/no drive day since DH and I will both be off, and I've done my big grocery shopping for the week. ~AND~ I have significantly cut back on driving and shouldn't need to fill my tank for a few more days!

Okay, I found out how much I'll be making this month and I'm pretty pleased with it, however, my expenses this month might be pretty high depending on what the dentist says. Going to try to shop around and find one that isn't too expensive but I have a sinking feeling I'm going to need a lot of dental work done

My Key:

Hmmm, not a good day, or last night. We ended up with pizza when my bottomless bag of onions ran out and threw my dinner plan out the window. Then today was grocery day. We did fine at the local store where I do 80% of my shopping, but blew the household budget at Meijers. I have to stop getting things for the house.

Today:
$46 at local store, including a good deal on chicken breasts that will last us all month
$75 at Meijers, $15 lamp to replace the one the boys broke (I've been looking used since Nov) and $14 on 2 large glass jars to organize my baking supplies. $12 on pop on sale. We say each week we won't drink it (dh and I, not the boys) but then we end up spending more to feed the addiction. $3 on thread, and $8 on charcoal/lighter fluid to start the grilling season, $18 on groceries.
$10 at a yard sale on the way home, stamps and an awesome Halloween decoration

So...

4/1: $20 birthday gift for BIL, $32 misc kitchen/house stuff that was not needed. $3 toy for the boys, $5 fast food, $20 groceries.
4/2-3: No spend!
4/4: $6 milk, $3 bread and ice, gas $34, pizza $13
4/5: $87 on groceries, $29 house stuff, $10 my splurge,

Totals:
$116/280 groceries
$79 unneeded
$20 gifts
$34 gas
$18 food out
