I need to buy spring clothes for my dd, most of her stuff don't fit her anymore. Do you know any store that's having a good sale now? I've never seen good stuff at thrift stores here, and it's so expensive (same price as ne stuff when they're on sale most of the time)

I'm playing major catch up here. I hope I don't forget anything. These last few days have not been good. I'm still spending way too much on groceries. DH just informed me that we need to have about 2 weeks of no spend days. Like that's ever going to happen. So I'm totally freaked out and feeling overwhelmed about our financial situation. DH assures me we'll be fine, but I just don't see how. I was going to just ditch this challenge, but I don't see how that would help either, so I'll stick it out.

4/01 budgeted spending: $39.76 groceries
4/02 No Spend Day!!!
4/03 budgeted spending: $193.71 groceries from Big Box; $4.70 coffee
4/04 No Spend Day!!!

4/06 budgeted spending: $23.00 charitable contributions; $5.00 gift for friend; $2.34 coffee

I'm doing pretty well, except I spent $80 at garage sales over the weekend. I guess I can justify it and take it out of my "variables" category. I got good stuff though! Today though, NO SPENDING.
01: $134 groceries/household stuff - within budget but more than I meant to spend IYKWIM. However, I did get some PP pads, some labour drinks and a bit of extra meat to make PP meals for the freezer, so I got a lot for my money. DH spent $1 at work on a chocolate bar!
02: No spend!!! DH spent a tiny bit at work but this isn't his challenge....
03: DH spent $7 on playing football plus $1.5 on a drink afterwards. The weather was glorious so I took DS1 and DS2 to the park after school. I had packed snacks but DS1 accidentally dropped his and spilled them everywhere so I ended up with a $2 spend at the store for replacements.......
04: Needed butter but came out of the store with chocolate too So, that's $4 out of my grocery budget. I wanted a Coke later but I resisted so it wasn't all bad!!
05: $3 on groceries. Still within budget but wouldn't have bought this by choice, it was related to an argument with my DH about my trying to cut down on groceries and him claiming he is being left hungry??!?!
06: $4 on groceries. By some miracle, I sent DH to the store for bread, milk and cheese and he *only* came back with those items!! Progress!!! That is my household/grocery budget spent til Weds so we need to manage with what we have now. DH is aware!!
07: No spend!!
08: $120 groceries/household (that's within budget and pretty good given that we needed diapers for nighttime use and laundry stuff.......) plus $120 gas (within budget but still scary)
09: No spend!!
10: No spend AND no drive! Just off to polish my halo........
11: $2 parking to take DS2 on a walk. Later I had my tutorial social. I'll get reimbursed the main and the drink so technically only spent $5 on a dessert. I didn't need it, so that was a bad purchase.
12id pretty well on my tutorial by packing a lunch and drinks. Spent $2 on a tea (mainly just to be sociable so needless really ) and left a tip after dinner. Dinner will be on expenses. DH took the kids out to the library and got lunch while they were in town - $6 on lunch plus $4 on a gift for DS1 and probably $4 on parking.
13: $5 on a cake and some juice to take to the tutorial. I had promised to bake but was way too tired, so this was a compromise and probably didn't work out much more expensive than baking at home. DH took the kids to the park and picked up some lunch items - $4. I then had to get $12 worth of groceries for dinner because DH hadn't followed my meal plan in my absence!! Plus $6 contribution to a gift for someone in the tutorial group who has finished the course.

Phew, I feel overwhelmed just recording all that unplanned spending. But it could have been a whole lot worse. We are $4 over our grocery budget for the week (my grocery week runs Tues-Tues) which is not bad considering. Need to get my expenses claim in now.

Today may be a no spend but may go for a swim if I can summon the energy.

Okay, taking off the internet selling goals because those aren't going to happen after all. I've lost my motivation to "sell" stuff and instead I'm just going to cart it all over to Goodwill.

Picked up some fruit and milk tonight at the Co-op; still within grocery budget, but not for long. Had a great free park afternoon and walk to the library/downtown this evening; had to limit Co-op purchases to what would fit in the stroller basket - might be on to something here...

Was going to do the botanical gardens with an out of town friend (us driving to their town), but it was cold, so we went to a "jumping place" instead. It was only $10 for my two kids, so that was OK. They had fun.

It was weird to be in a more urban/suburban area--I immediately felt like I needed to be spending money on getting my hair done and we were talking about camping trips and driving past every store known to man.......I was so glad to drive back to my rural, simple community to check on my garden and get back into "frugal mode." Strange sensation.

My key:

No spend

Groceries $314.88/$650
Pet $11/$100
Eat-Out $15/$20
Misc. $99.53/$100

1. Please introduce yourself and tell us anything you think it would help us to know about yourself.

2. Please tell us why you have decided to spend nothing (or spend significantly less) for the Month of April. Memorize these goals and recite them to yourself before all purchases.

3. No spending is hard work. You need a plan. Please tell us your game plan -- how do you plan to approach no spending for a month?

I'm Jaimee, a 30 y/o mama to a new babe, Lily (2/27/08) and making the scary leap to SAH/WAH mom. This means cutting expenses.

DH makes decent $ but not enough to allow us to buy a house without additional income. BUT, for now, my goal is for us to live off his income alone so we don't destroy all our savings.

My plan is to stick to meal planning to get groceries down to $350/month (from $550 on average). I'm on a spending budget of $10/week for coffee shop dates, etc. I've also started collecting coupons, walking when possible and hope to CD soon!

My main goal is to stick to the budget we've created so I can successfully live within DH's salary. Here it goes!

4/14 - no spending!
