Tonight is Earth Hour. You should turn off your lights for one full hour b/n 8-9PM your time.

I just heard about this on NPR

between "CarTalk" and "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me"! They were saying the Sydney Opera House's lights were out even though it was between 10-11am EST for me.

I'm on board. A friend of mine just reminded me of this event last night. Good thing there are so many reminders, I have the worst memory ever...LOL!!

Thanks for reminding me! I wanted to do it when I read about it in the newspaper but had forgotten. I hope we are able to not turn anything on.

8 pm, no matter what time zone, right?

I'll be at a concert (Super Diamond-- a Neil Diamond cover band! )... I wonder if they'll shut things down for that hour? Doubt it.

ooooohh..thanks for Blackle! We are now set to that. Cool!

As for Earth hour last night it was interesting b/c we just put in an offer on a house yesterday late afternoon. Then we found out the offer was accepted during Earth hour. So we celebrated in darkness. Literally! LOL. We did the happy dance in the dark. My 2 year old was running thru the dark apt. and my baby was sitting in a bouncy chair so we could keep him located. It is so funny to me that we actually stayed in the darkness for a full hour and celebrated our new home joy!!

The greatest joy to me however is that I am going to make our new house so green. I have all the greatest plans, I can't wait!

How'd you do?

Congrats on the new home, takebirthback.

We had a fun hour. I put up candles and had a couple lanterns going. It was really relaxing so I think my dh and I are going to make more of an effort to do this more often. We just need to get more lanterns maybe and get some candles holders that you can mount on walls.
