Cell Phone

I recently got a new cell phone and service plan. It has a 30 day "test drive" and I'm having second thoughts. I'm considering changing to a prepaid plan and drastically reducing my use. Partly because I keep hearing that cell phones aren't good for you because of the radiation, partly because I need to reduce the amount of time I spend talking on it!

Does anyone worry about the dangers of a cell phone? Do you have a prepaid plan and like it? I don't know anything about the plans available. If you have a good experience, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!

I have a prepaid plan in which the unused minutes rollover to the next month. The minutes are counted in $'s so I get $40 worth of minutes each month...I believe that right now I've amassed upwards of $80 worth. My plan also gives me 500 night and weekend minutes, which usually doesn't go under 400 a month. Prepaid plans are good because regular plans require a credit check and are considered a form of credit, so whatever your feelings are about that could play a factor.

I have 7 siblings, 4 of which go with the same company, so calling them is no extra expense (of the other 3, two live in other countries, and one is hearing impaired). The same goes for my husband (we both have cells, but no land line in our home).

I didn't realized that I actually don't use the phone that much. I do like having the cell because of it's "in case of" factor.

Hope this helps.

I have a T-Mobile prepaid phone (I got the Nokia phone with it for $29.99 at the time) and LOVE IT. I did the same thing, cut down drastically on my usage, basically this is just for emergencies and the occasional phone call I need to make, their plan is great, you can buy minutes in $25 increments, and once you hit a certain $ amount of minutes (I think it has to be $100) your minutes last for a full year... which ends up being really cheap. $100 bought 1,000 minutes, which I never used, so this year I did $50 and because I have that rewards status they'll last all year, and it's 500 minutes. This is my second year using the plan and I've been thrilled, no hidden fees, nothing

We have prepaid through TMobile. After you spend $100, the minutes last for a year. (And you only have to do that once.) We were spending about $70 on a phone that we barely ever used. Now, $25 worth of minutes will last us 4-5 months. We really hardly ever use it.

Edited to say the only dangers of cell phones that worry me is the people talking and driving!

I ended up getting Tracfone. I'm waiting for it to be activated. It is going to save us so much money each month! And I truly don't need to talk on the phone as much as I sometimes do. I swear, there's always something keeping me from having my priorities straight. I'm either on the phone or the computer. I need to get better about both!
