Nursing Mother's "Room" at Charlotte Airport

I was at the Charlotte airport (Charlotte, NC) with DS recently. Had to use the restroom and once inside, there is a "recessed" area (no doors, totally open). Just a recesessed area with a padded bench and also a changing table next to the bench. Above the bench is a big sign that says, "Nursing Mother's Room."

I guess it's a nice thought that they even thought of nursing moms, but really....a bench in the restroom....

LOL -- yeah, I've nursed in that airport. My "nursing room" was the huge central lobby/food court lined with those awesome white rocking chairs. Sheesh.

That is my favorite airport because of that open area. I don't think I have traveled through there though since DD came into my life, so I haven't seen their "nursing room"

I just spent a bunch of hours in that airport a few days ago and I didn't even see it. I didn't have a child with me but those white rocking chairs looked very inviting.

I had an e-mail exchange with a prominent IBCLC on this issue pretty recently and she told me that all airports have these places called something like "family lounges" where they watch over kids who are traveling alone. According to her, everyone she knows who has asked to either use those lounges to nurse or pump (pumping in airports being a pretty big problem) have been welcome there.
