What do you mean by time, mama?
If you are talking about labor, there is no set time for it to start when you lose your plug. It could be a couple hours, a couple of days, or whenever! It can start early in the third trimester (since it can regenerate) or it can start after your labor has begun.
Some women steadily lose their plug in small pieces, while others lose it all together.. Some women don't recall losing it at all.

Might be weeks, might be today.
It really varies from mama to mama.
With DD I lost it after I began active labor.
With this babe it's coming out in gushes with amniotic fluid, but I didn't lose any prior to ROM.

I lost mine Saturday. It was the first time I've ever seen it in all 3 pregnancies. Some have lost theirs weeks ago. You could still have weeks to go. So try not to get too worked up. I know... It's hard to do.

Not to rock the boat, but I believe I read in my first pregnancy that labor "generally" begins within 3 days of loss of the mucous plug (of course this varies WIDELY as everyone has pointed out). In my first pregnancy I lost my plug, got a GIANT surge of energy that I used to finish up last minute stuff, and had the baby less than 36 hours later. I had bloody show between loss of the plug and labor starting. If you have stuff to take care of I would do it now, but also make sure to get plenty of rest. I can't wait to see how this turns out!

Sorry to hijack here, but how do you know the difference between just a large quantity of discharge (whitish/yellowish, fairly thick but stringy, all came out at once, but maybe only the size of a grape if you balled it up) vs. a mucus plug? I never saw mine with my first pregnancy. I had bloody show after it was clear I was in labor. After not having much discharge all day today, a big ol' glob just came out, enough so that I needed to make a special trip to the bathroom to deal with it.

I have been wondering too... my midwife says it sounds like my plug might be coming out slowly but I have no idea.

I had bloody show and mucus all day on Monday and part of Tuesday. I'm still loosing my plug everyday but I know it regenerates. It just means that your cervix is ripening but it doesn't mean you'll go into labour because of that.

I lost my plug almost 3 weeks ago and he is still not here. You can go into labor anywhere from hours to weeks. It means you are effacing and probably dialating but I have been 2cm and 90% for almost 3 weeks too and so it means nothing.

I think it varies. Mine came out slowly the week before but then a big chunk came out the night before my water broke.
