Purge filing cabinet - done; shredded and bagged and waiting for trash day tomorrow
Purge other paper collection spots - in progress
I'll tackle the rest of the office next month, but paperwork is my highest priority this month - in progress
Taxes - done and ready to mail in the morning

2. Master bedroom:
Unpack remaining 7 boxes from temporary move last Sept
Research/purchase new bedroom furniture - done; should arrive within a month
Declutter entire room and closet - in progress

3. Powder room (also laundry room):
Declutter and organize cabinets
Install new tp holder/towel rack/wall cabinet - done
Frame painting - in progress
Set out new decor - in progress

4. Living room:
Declutter and organize closet/cabinets/bookcases AGAIN (LOL)
Research/purchase new blinds
Frame paintings - in progress
I have more to do in this room, too, but it'll have to wait until the rest (1,2,3 and this far on 4) is done.

5. Upstairs bathrooms - declutter and organize AGAIN.

6. DD's bedroom - declutter and organize closet and bookcases. (Clothes are decluttered and organized for the new season.)

7. Linen closet - declutter and organize.

8. Kitchen - declutter and organize AGAIN.

9. Playroom:
I'd like to declutter and organize it again, but really my main goal is to simply keep it from turning into a junkyard again since it's function is changing into something new (unknown at this moment). Looking good thus far this month!

I didn't get as much done this weekend as I had hoped, but I made some progress. I like seeing all that everyone is getting done. It makes me want to pick up the pace so that I don't look like an underachiever. Thanks for the motivation.

Happy Decluttering

Jill

Finally cleared out the hats/scraves/gloves boxed and purged about half of it, although we still seem to have a ridiculous amount.
Freecyclers collected a handheld vacuum and some baby blankets eventually.

I need to do our closet but I'm scared - I can't even get in there!!

OK, I'm doing good. I ran out of time, so I only sent 42 items (including bundles of stuff) to the nearly-new sale. 8 came back. All are listed on ebay, usednappies.co.uk or freecycle already.
I've also shipped out 10 items from my yarn stash that need to go and live elsewhere. So right now, I'm at 44. I also have a big bag of stuff that is sorted out and ready to take to the charity shop/recycled.

Hey everyone. Thank you all for the kind words answering my question about what's wrong with me. I'm glad to know that it isn't a personal thing but a common thing. I ended up being sick this weekend but did get back in it yesterday. I had been letting the clothes pile up again (clean) in our bedroom so I got all that put away yesterday. I went through my closet and found some more things to donate. I'm going to find something to do today to make a dent while taking care of my sickie boys.

Having one of those overwhelming days today when I look about my house and think I'll never have it clean and clear. Everything just feels dirty and trashy - anyone else get days like this?? Makes me feel really out of control. Will try to convert this into positive action tomorrow but for today, I'm done.

New Here
I have somehow gotten bit by the declutter bug and don't know if I can really even post it all here.

*I gave both kids an old milk crate and had them go through the toy box and take what they wanted, the rest is going to the free box.
*We hung all the clothes on rods yesterday and are either getting rid of the dressers or putting toys/art supplies in it.
*Our bedroom isn't finished yet and it may end up being a pantry anyways so we are finally putting our dressers and bed in what used to be the communal play space upstairs. I feel a bit sad getting rid of it but the kids had the entire upstairs and I had no personal space. Their play kitchen is coming downstairs near the kitchen and if it doesn't get much use we'll be passing it along to our 2 1/2 year old niece.
*I am getting rid of the cloth diapers that have never been used because they are a style I never liked but took them "just in case."

I already have a giant pile outside ready to be loaded up to go to the free box and it's just getting bigger.

Oy! That green hurts my eyes! Sorry! I don't have time to fix the above post, but I won't use that color again.

Today I finally let go of that mammoth dual tape deck, five cd changer stereo that I've been hanging onto since highschool. It was huge, but had such sentimental memories. Ahh, all those mixed tapes for boyfriends made on it But it was taking up way to much space in our carport storage where I want our bikes to go, so I took that plus three bags full of junk to the thrift store drop off today. It felt great!

Nothing done today mamas. Where's my inspiration gone?!?

It went on holiday with mine. I need to actually pluck up the- whats the word?- thingummyjig that enables me to take my clutter OUT of the HOUSE.

Today I bought a closet rod and 2 L-brackets to attach it to the wall. This will be the first time in 6 years that I will have clothes on hangers. I sort of took over the closet near the master bedroom space that has tons of shelves,
I just transferred all the things that belong in the boys' closet from mine yesterday so that frees up lots of shelf space for sweaters.

I need to clean up the TV room and go through DHs clothes and see what stays.
I took a car load to the free box today but there is still a bit more to go.

I'm excited because I just found out that I get to participate in this big group rummage sale at the fairgrounds. I will have my own little booth. I have a ton of stuff that I can take. In fact I am changing my goal for the month from 100 items to 200, since I have such high hopes for this sale.

I got rid of four strands of Christmas lights that didn't work, 2 kids books that were broken and I didn't care for them anyway, and 38 magazines. I have also shredded another 50 papers. So my totals now:

47/205

and 450/1000 papers

Plus I have been going through boxes and sending a lot of the ex's stuff over to his place, which I won't count towards my totals, but it feels good to see all of that stuff going away.

I'm counting trips, rather than items.
So far:
One trip to the re-cycling centre to drop off the flattened cartons.
One trip to Thift shop to donate footstools and clothing
One trip to Auction centre to drop off bootload of "stuff", mainly old books, ornaments, kitchen ware etc.
One trip to the dump (well, we didn't do it, but I filled our big wheelie bin with rubbish from the shed, so even though the council truck took it away, I think it counts.

One box in car to give to best friend... just some antiques and collectibles that she has jokingly said I can leave in my will for her. Well, I've decided she may as wll have them and enjoy them now, because I'm over that phase of keeping things just because they're collectible.
Whenever we have to do chores in town or go somewhere, we are seeing what we can take to get rid odrop offf at the same time, so not having to make special trips just to de-clutter.
Almost all gone now. Just a few boxes that I kept aside of useful stuff, that our famly can go through.
I will also keep a box or two packed up with kitchen things that teenage DH might use in a year or two, if he works away from home and needs to set up a place of his own. There's plenty of room in our shed to store that, so makes sense to keep things like crockery, kettle, mugs and cutlery, etc, that he won't have to buy then.
Our married kids all started life with our excess kitchenware, till they could afford their own, then they passed it on too.

4 counts for me so far.

* Pantry done
* linen cupboard done
* master bedroom done
* craft/sewing room
* store room
* Dh's desk done
* book shelves done
* garden and verandas

I have a huge bag of stuff to go to the second hand shop from the bedroom, plus a couple of small boxes. And a huge bag of clothes from me, and a medium bag from DH. I will probably drop the stuff off today, but SIL has to go through the clothes first. BILs already have DHs clothes. Our bedroom looks pretty good now, more of a haven.
