platform beds...anyone know of a good website or company?

Here in the next couple weeks we'll be traveling to another city to feel out a latex mattress, and we'd like a platform bed to put it on. I thought I had some sites bookmarked for platform beds, but now I can't seem to find them.

Anyone know of good places to look online for platform beds? I don't want to go to some box furniture store and get a made in China bed, you know?

eta: what about Ikea platform beds? Would they be good to hold a latex mattress? I don't even know if they are made in China, I would have to check.

We are shopping around too, and am leaning towards:

Beds are hardwood and made in Maine. The simple models (with no headboard/footboard like the Freeport and the Yarmouth) are pretty affordable too. We live in Maine, and can get it at a local futon/mattress shop for a very good price. They are hand-made, and even my husband was impressed with the quality, especially compared with the imported ones in the same store.

Let us know about your latex mattress experience! We are shopping for that too.

Kim, thank you! I came across their site late last night after figuring out they were the ones on the Savvy Rest site. I do like a lot of those, and even though I live in Texas I'm willing to pay shipping to get something American made and really nice!

We're looking at the Savvy Rest mattresses...after reading through pages and pages of mattress posts I saw those highly recommended. I found a dealer in a city not too far away, so we're going to drive up one of the next weekends and test them out. They have one you can switch the layers out on and test all the firmness levels. I'll let you know how we like them!

has great beds too. if you're closer to the west coast you may want to check those out. we just got a futon frame (for our new organic futon couch yay!)from bedworks of maine, which is gorgeous, but man did it stink when we unpacked it!
