Congratulations on your beautiful baby! From your recent blog entry, it seems like things (health-wise) are starting to be more clear and won't present long-term problems. Here's a cheer in hopes of her graduating out of the NICU in a very short amount of time. Hang in there, mama.
she is precious and of course i love her name! two katherine's in our ddc, wonder if there will be any more? and my katherines middle name starts with a b too! they are CLEARLY destined to be e-friends when they are older lolol.
congratulations mama and i hope she heals quickly and you get to hold her in your arms and snuggle her soon. hang in there, you are doing great!
I just talked to Alpaca, and she's getting discharged today. :
Any spare thought you've got would be much appreciated! I know it's going to be so hard on her to have to be home, an hour away from her sweet LO. Unless the ped has earth shattering news this afternoon, it's not looking like baby's going anywhere very soon either. They were originally thinking Friday, but now it looks like she'll be lucky to even be off the O2 and eating by this weekend.
Alpaca she is sooo cute and chubby! I'm sorry you had to go home without your baby. I hope she is off O2 soon and that you can get going on nursing. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way!
Just got off the phone again...after poor Alpaca cried her eyes out, the Drs. came by with more news. They are putting Kate in a crib, taking the O2 bubble off her, and they get to start breastfeeding here...in about an hour! SO, since there's a need to keep Alpaca, she's not being discharged for another day as well!

*snif* this is really hard...being almost 38 weeks myself, and going through this rollercoaster ride w/ my best friend...ah, hormones! Need I say more?
Well, as Elley mentioned, our girl got to go to a "big girl" crib. I've been so excited I don't know whether to cry or jump up and down. I got to go try nursing after the shift change at 4, but we weren't terribly successful. She SEEMS to want to nurse, takes the nipple in her mouth well... but just won't latch on. She likes me knuckle... likes a pacifier sometimes... but not my nipple. It's like she's forgotten what it's for, though she sure is excited about the concept of sucking. I'm a little baffled-need to head on over to the BFing board for advice. Is this nipple confusion? Any suggestions?
Regardless, I got to hold her for almost TWO blissful hours, and the hospital is letting me stay in my old room in an unofficial capacity tonight, bless their hearts. So I didn't have to say goodbye to my girl yet today afterall! LA!
She is adorable, and so glad to hear the good news! Things can change in a heartbeat w/ the NICU. With DD we finally decided that it had as much to do with who was on staff and day vs. night as anything else. Glad they are keeping you and hopefully you will all be home very soon!
