APRIL 2007 Mamas its APRIL ALREADY!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABIES!!! - Page 5

Pippa is doing well! She will be one on the 16th!

She's still working with a PT on getting on her belly, rolling over, and sitting by herself. We just discovered that she is anemic (and that's why she's not gaining weight, we think -- she's 13 lbs. 11 oz.), so she's getting an iron supplement. She also has strabismus, which means her eyes don't work together. She also is farsighted, which is also common in babies, but if doesn't change, she will need glasses.

So the treatment is phospholine iodide eye drops to help her pupils contract, which is one component of focusing. That way her eyes can work on the other two parts of focusing. She also has to wear a patch over her right eye for 2 hours a day so that her left eye gets more "exercise" in focusing. Hopefully the eyedrops will work and we won't even have to consider surgery.

Secondly, I am so sad that I couldn't get to Michigan. It sounds like you guys had a great time. I wish we could have some kind of April '07 convention! Maybe once I get birth certificates and passports all worked out, we can at least drive down to see you, hanno. It's not really that far, just crossing the border that's the pain.

Thanks for all the well wishes for Arlo. He was feeling as spry as a kitten today. The puffers are really making a big difference. What an ordeal, and I feel so bad for him that he will be dealing with this, but I guess it's fairly manageable?

So since I'm too lazy to upload pics right now, here is one of Arlo modeling a bonnet I made for his girlfriend. He looks so cute in purple frills!

In other news, we are on the hunt for child care providers. We can no longer trade off shifts, as dp has to get back to working full time. No one wants to take a one year old and wait lists for centres are sometimes years long, so this is a real pain in the ass. But I have a couple of people to meet with next week, so we'll see.

AND there are crocuses blooming in my front garden...YAY for SPRING! (even though it was snowing today

A
i'd love little april 07 convention... sounds great!
i'm glad arlo is feeling so much better!
great job on the bonnet!
s to you as you search for childcare... i haven't been in that situation but i have friends who have had to deal with that search. good luck!
i check for my crocuses every day...hopefully they'll be up soon! i'm so anxious for spring (as it snows here too!)

Happy Birthday, Desmond! Hope you all had a great party!

My gift isn't ready yet either, although it's all together in my head - it will have to be a belated birthday gift.

I have two fevered kiddos and guests over - I'll be back later, too.

Doudat and finnsmama- s for the work/daycare situation- that must be so hard. A year is not long enough! How are you guys doing with it?

oh yes- my gift is going to be late. But that's ok.

So- what's Evangeline been doing? Well, she's starting to stand freely and take steps. It's so exciting! She's also doting over 3 small stuffed animals, she puts them in Axel's trucks and pushes them around. Love this age!

i had three weeks off from work...just went back tonight and i'm poooooped! not used to the "late night" thing.

Somehow in all the MDC crashing I missed the pics of Pippa! She is just SO gorgeous!!!

Something totally trivial.....I really want to get Ion a doll for his b-day because he has started doting on stuffed toys like Eva and I'm really anxious for him to be more gentle with babies and animals. The doll I want (blue and a boy) is $40. The very same doll that's a girl and pink is $12! I hate pink, Kam hates pink. But that's a big difference.

I can't wait for my partner to get her gift!!!! i really hope it arrives soon!!!

Its funny to hear all the babies hugging and loving dolls and stuffed animals cause its exactly what Caroline's been up to also!! she has claimed one of Hailey's baby dolls and carrys it around ( the video i posted lol) its really neat to see them all up to the same things!

I gave Caroline a bath tuesday night and used the burts bees shampoo bar that i had stopped using on her cause it seemed to make her eczema worse... what was i THINKING!!!?? weds morning she woke up and i took her pj's off and she is COVERED head to toe in contact rash! its still there but not as red its been 5 days!! then this morning her eyes started looking red and her nose is a little drippy.... what am i to think of all this? is it not a contact rash? or is it and the eyes and nose are something different? like maybe allergies? everything is now starting to bloom here and i have had the doors open for fresh air...

I went to the dr for myself ( for once lol) because i get these chest pains/ pressure that totally ruin my day and are plain horrible i have gotten this for YEARS but i finally went in and she told me it was reflux! i wish i had gone sooner! i think its GERD, i am going to have an upper GI series on monday which i guess will tell me more about it and how to treat it!! yay!!

ok anyway thats all about me for tonight, i am off to bed!!!!
