I thought I would help out with these spotlight threads since Mkmama and Meksmama have been so diligent with them but I know one of them just had a baby - since I don't think I will be having mine in the next week and am just kind of waiting around I have a lot of time on my hands. Hope I'm not stepping on any toes! (Feel free to let me know if I am).

Meche:

Have you had your baby yet? ( - there are so many, I can't keep up and it is only the 1st!)
How would you describe your perfect day?
Do you have the names ready?
What do you/did you do for work?
Are you kidding Meli? Thank you! The title of the spolight thread archive says "ANYONE can start these..." but nobody ever does!

Where have you traveled?
What's the significance of your user name?
How are you feeling today?
What's your favorite thing to indulge in, just for you? :

Well, that's what I thought and I also thought that since you are also due any day AND have a little guy to look after I would try to help out. This is my first one so I have a lot of time on my hands right now.

Cool! Thanks, guys!

Have you had your baby yet? Nope! I'm due on the 12th, but I have a feeling it will be sooner than that.

How would you describe your perfect day? Hm, let's see... starting with sleeping in, a nice leisurely shower, breakfast at a place that makes yummy french toast, then browsing a bookstore, a lunch with friends, relaxing at home with music and crafts (maybe some time to scrapbook!), and dinner at a sushi restaurant with my family. Yeah, perfect!

Do you have the names ready? The names have been ready for years! LOL! For a girl, Kristiana Marie. For a boy, Christian Janos.

What do you/did you do for work? I am currently a birth doula and childbirth educator. Previously, I have worked as an IT business analyst, independent computer consultant, and entrepreneur/magazine editor.

Where have you traveled? Across the southwestern US (CA to OK), NYC, Amherst (MA), Jacksonville (FL), Mexico (Mexico City & Acapulco), and Hungary.

What's the significance of your user name? It was my high school nickname--there were three Michelles on my frosh basketball team, that we each were given a nickname and it stuck amongst those friends.

How are you feeling today? Really good. Not too many contractions, and I get to stay home to get a few things done around here. The only buggin' thing is that the baby is really pressing it's foot on my belly button area. OUCH.

What's your favorite thing to indulge in, just for you? CHOCOLATE. Nice, dark, European, rich chocolate. I hide it from my kids so I don't have to share.

What led you to birth work? Having babies! LOL. I just love having the opportunity to support other women and share some of what I have learned along the way.

How long have you been a doula? Since July 2006. I did my training in 2004, but didn't start attending births until we had moved and settled down here.

What is your favorite meal to order in a restaurant? Usually chicken, but it depends on the restaurant. I like all kinds of food, and I like to try new things. I rarely order the same thing twice.

What was the last movie you saw in the theater? "Horton Hears a Who"

Do you have any pets? Yes, currently one cat. I've always had at least one at all times in my life.

How do you picture your life in 10 years? Raising my kids, birth work, volunteer work, and maybe either grad school or a paid position in non-profit administration.

Whats your most embarrassing moment? Um, there are too many to remember! Just last week I walked around the whole day with my shirt on backwards.

If you could change something in your past what would it be and why? I don't keep regrets. But there was an acquaintance that I really wish I had visited in the hospital before she passed away.

Do you plan on having any more kids after this one?
If you could meet one famous person (dead or alive) who would it be?
What was the last book you read?

Do you plan on having any more kids after this one? Nope. We are done. DH and I are approaching 40, we have only a 50/50 success rate at pregnancy and three will be enough for us. He is just waiting for the baby to come out before he heads to the urologist.

If you could meet one famous person (dead or alive) who would it be? I think it would be my favorite author of all time, Stephen King.

What was the last book you read? "Reading Lolita in Tehran." I'm not actually done yet, but it was the last one I started for book club. I tend to start but not finish books. Like "Eat Pray Love" (hated it) and many others.
