OMG! It was PERFECT! You should have seen the look on his face! He panicked a little bit, but I don't think he's ever thought about labor starting with broken water. I was trying so hard to keep a straight face, he said "what should I do? Do you need to go to the bedroom?" and kinda freaking out, so I asked him for a towel, cause I was pretty wet. and when there weren't any in the basket he couldn't think straight enough to check the clean laundry pile and I started really cracking up, and had to admit to him then that I was just kidding. It took him about five minutes to find it as funny as I did.

Classic! and probably the only chance I will ever get to play that particular April Fools prank.

His reaction was awesome... I wish my hubby was here so I could do something like that!! I don't think I would be able to pull it off though, I would NOT be able to keep from cracking up!

I told df about this and was laughing so hard the whole time. He was all serious and mad and said "why is that funny. Thats terrible. Shes evil. He must have been freaking out. Be glad you didnt do that to me."

What a poop! I wish i had done something to him though! Still super impressed with you for pulling it off!!!!!!!

Not in your DDC, but I had to pop in to say...

Well played ladies, well played!

When we did test runs before DH woke up, my MIL was worried about the loud "pop" sound that the balloon made and thought it would tip him off that something was up. However I was right instead, he was in too much of a panic, his brain didn't even register the popping sound.

And I don't think it's so evil, labor actually COULD begin with my water breaking like that, it's good for DH to think about NOT panicking if it does. And now I know how little he knows about labor starting that way. He thought things would start right away and the baby would just whoosh out of me at any second. I had the hardest time not cracking up when he asked what we needed to do, and the look of alarm on his face when he thought I should move to the bedroom, like I wouldn't make it down the hall in time!

Think of it as a training experience, not a prank. Hubby needs a few simulated "what if" situations.
