lanolizing

I have a small tub of this stuff-I'm assuming it's 100% lanolin, the label says it is an ointment base, dilute with water before using. . .will this work to lanolize knitted diaper covers? If so, how do I use it? TIA

i remember reading somewhere about lanolizing, i did this yesterday.

i squirt about 1 tbsp (i wanted it to be really waterproof...lol) in a small 8 oz bottle of hot water and shake it till its cloudy. i then soak my wool longies in a bin with warm water and then add the lanolin+hot water mixture to the bin where i hv the longies. i then really rub the stuff in and leave it for 30 minutes. i dont rinse it out. i then roll the longies in towels to squirt all the water out and now its laying flat on the floor in my laundry room to be left to try.

*fingers crossed* we are going to use the longies for the first time tonight.

If whatever you have is 100% lanolin it should work.

so I did it, yesterday, and they feel sticky. Obviously I used too much lanonlin and am washing some of it off with wool wash. What are they supposed to feel like when you do it right?

They aren't supposed to be sticky. It doesn't feel like anything after you lanolize really. even when I use spray lanolin I don't have sticky texture. Oily yes, sticky no. Are you sure what you have is only lanolin? Also are you emuslifying the solid by adding it to hot water and shaking it up?

I did emulsify, maybe what I have is concentrated or something. . .they're not exactly sticky, I guess oily/waxy would be a better description. The tub I have doesn't say 100% lanolin, but it doesn't list any other components. I got it at a pharmacy, and it says it is an ointment base that must be diluted, and that's about it. I'm pretty sure it's just too much because when I handle them the stuff coats my hands. . . .unless this is normal.

When I use lasinoh I use a pea sized amount.
