Major lower belly pain when I stand up?

I'm having major lower belly pain when I stand up. It's not really pelvic pain, although I have a bit of that, like I would expect if the baby is dropping, but it's mostly in my lower belly... anyone else? What could be causing it?

ETA: Now I'm having cramping in the same region when I'm sitting... could this just be false labor pains?

Me too. I just attribute it to a dropping baby. I'll admit to measuring my belly button in relation to the floor and when it's really low the pain is bad, when it raises back up again the pain goes away.

I have pain on both sides of my belly down low. I asked the OB about it, and he said that it's really common in pregnant women - just lots of nerves down there.

I've got a lot of lower belly pain also when I stand. In fact, I get bh now when ever I'm on my feet... Just another joy of the ninth month according to my doctor

I have been getting that lower belly pain too... my midwife said it could be early labor or it could just be stuff stretching and being angry about having 8 pounds of baby in there!

I know my lower belly pain is caused when my round ligaments are distrubed--often when I get up out of bed, or up out of a seated position.

here's a great picture showing the round ligaments, shown in yellow in the front, attaching to the pelvis and the uterus:

My abs are very lax, so my round ligaments are doing a lot of work supporting my giant womb.

(also, looking at that picture, think about how long it would take for those ligaments to return to their non-pregnant state....this is part of why so many cultures encourage new mamas to CALM DOWN and relax for weeks post-partum...meanwhile, in the USA, new mamas are busy pushing the cart at Target, with their floppy ligaments sustaining mild but permanant damage. Off soapbox now!)
