A thumbs up for my hospital re: formula bags...

I have been meaning to post this for a while, but keep forgetting. Knew you would all like it though...

The hospital I delivered at was VERY pro-breastfeeding, each room came with a how-to booklet on the nightstand with a hand written phone number list for the 24/7 "LC Line". Best of all, all the formula samples and formula bags were in a cabinet behind the nurses station, behind a hand written sign saying:

"Do NOT give out for no reason! Formula is bad for healthy happy babies!"

I was really surprised, and I bet they have caught some flack for it, but its a good thing.

Just thought I would share that.

That is awesome!! I have to say, as awful as the hospital was where I delivered, all they gave out was a diaper bag/backpack with their logo on it - no formula samples or anything.

Wow! That's a pretty strong statement!! I agree, but....

What about the (very few) women who can't breastfeed that want to? I wonder how that sign makes them feel?

isn't that why the sign says dont give out for no reason at all? i think they are intending the formula for those moms who truly need the formula and giving a better chance at success for those who can breastfeed.

The hospital I had DS at had a bag for BFing mothers- it had a manual pump, a tube of Lansinoh, disposable breast pads, a booklet on nutrition for nursing moms, and a magnet with the phone number for their LC line. I know they had the formula bags, but no one ever offered me one.
