I love you, MDC, I really do, but - Page 2

It's happened five times while trying to reply to this thread:

I bet I`m jinxing it by saying this, but I don`t have this problem it seems? I HAVE had it, but only a few times. And not recently. Weird.
I'm right there with the rest of you. It's better than it was at the beginning of the year, but it is still *really* slow to load and I still get server errors fairly frequently.

Mods :, any idea on what the plan for improvement is? (is there one? Please :?)
It's an admin issue, far above our little mod heads. (It's actually a server issue, which is kinda a side step from the admins, but they're who have any information about the problems and potential resolutions.)

In the ultimate of ironies, I got a database error while trying to load this page.
Wait- I thought the admins were people and the server was a machine? Or is the server a bunch of people as well?
Yah, me too!
the last week it's been really slow, and I got a data base error as well.
today has been the worst tho.
it's come and go with me in the past with mdc, but now it seems at all times it's happening.
it used to be just at "high times" ... i.e. after the kids are in bed and all the moms are pounding away on their keyboards at mdc.

anyway, this isn't really a complaint. slow or not, i love this website and these moms. the only intelligent site on the web. period.!

Ditto. Craptastic.
Same here. Most of my posts won't even go through. We'll see if this one does!

ETA: Wow!! It worked!!
Oops, I just asked that very same question in a new thread. Sorry mods!
yes it's very slow sometimes... and it's not my bandwidth
post #31 of 207
Crap flyin' off the fan here, too.

In past years when this has happened it usually meant a server transfer and a little downtime... wonder if that's the case now...
OMG- driving me CRAZY!!!! Especially when I have 5 minutes before DD wakes up to run in, check my threads, and post replies....

It took me about 10 tries to get into this page, we'll see how many tries it takes to actually post this. :

I'm amazed at how long it takes to resolve this issue... I understand that admins here are not the ones responsible for the server, so please don't take this as an attack on admins.

It's just beyond the point of frustration, and I'm not just complaining, I'm offering a solution. I know someone who can fix it, working with servers is what DP does for a job, he could evaluate at what can be done, how much it will cost, etc. etc.

There can be no excuses at how many tries it takes to load a page. Such a reputable company should live up to a lot higher standard... Granted, people will come here anyway, because of the community that is created here, but you can't expect loyalty from your visitors when you are showing them that you clearly not interested in making their visit here easy and enjoyable.

P.S. Thanks for the place to vent. This has been bugging me for a long long long long long long long long time.

P.P.S. I had to retype this message because the page didn't load right the first time...

Well, I am.
Even though it's a pain in the arse it's been a good thing. It's forced me to do irl things. But I would gladly come back if the issue was resolved.

I cherish MDC with all of my heart & soul, but they server problems are driving me crazy as well. If it helps, I will re move the smilies from my siggy. It's probably what's causing all of the problems .
Yeah, this post is a product of the previously discussed issue. Whee!

Yes to ALL of that, I'm pretty fed up. Come on, MDC. This has been an issue for a LONG time...

I love MDC too : I don't go to any other forums. Don't even know of any. Don't want to.

But these server issues drive me absolutely crazy. Come on, MDC. Please resolve it once and for all. :

Maybe oriole's dp can fix it! "Can we fix it? Yes, we can!"
