rrl tea anyone drinking it?

since i am 32 weeks i figure i should start drinking it but not sure how much a day. so far i am drinking 1 cup. i was wondering if any other mamas are drinking it too that are due near me. how many cups are you drinking daily if you are?

i'm doing about 1 cup a day, but i brew one bag of RRL and one bag of the Pregnancy tea together before bed. They actually say to drink 3 cups a day, but I haven't made it there yet....maybe this week I'll be better about it.

Anyone have a good ICED tea recipe for RRL??? I really want iced tea these days, but wasn't sure how it brewed up cold.

I drink it whenever...I haven't been good about my tea lately. I have RRL in my pregnancy tea that I've been drinking all along, but I figured once I got this late in the game I'd start drinking RRL tea too, and I have, just not regularly. I need to get going with that...I really love RRL tea!

i am drinking about 3-4 cups a day, and have been for a while. At my last appt though i told my mw that i felt like i was swelling a little and she told me to add nettles and dandelion(tinc). Now its kinda gross its also a lot more cloudy/dark. i have brewed it, strained it, and the added honey and put it in the fridge to chill. I have to admit though, its kinda weird to drink with all of the crap floating in it. I bought a (kinda spendy) tea filtering thing to help but the nettles are just brutal.

I usually did 3-4 cups a day with my youngest. hm.. and he was late. may need to up that.

to make it iced just brew double-strength and pour over ice.

gabbyquilts, do your nettle and dandelion separately. trust me. bad combo with rrl. *ick* Why dandelion tincture? the tea is rather coffee like and isn't half bad with nettle. you can get both dandelion and nettle in pre-formed tea bags from Alvita.

I mix RRL with whatever else I have on hand (nettles, spearmint, chamomile, etc.) and brew up (and try to drink) a quart a day. After it cools I leave it in a pitcher in the fridge. I drink it iced, mixed with soymilk and sometimes some sweetener. Yum!

I make a 3 quart batch in my Mr Coffee Iced Tea maker, after its done brewing I make some simple syrup (about 3/4 cups of sugar, dh like 1 cup of sugar) and disolve it in hot water, then stir it in to the tea pitcher.
You can do the same thing with a pot and a lid.

I got carried away a couple of days ago and drank my whole 3 qt batch
The next day I swear I felt like I was on the brink of labor the whole day.

I think one cup a day at 32 weeks to start is good, and when you feel ready, increase it to eventually 3-4 cups a day.

I started drinking rrl tea at 2 cups a day on Monday. I am 34 weeks today. (Yipee!!). I hear it's fine to start off slow, one cup a day for a week, then two cups a day for a week, then up to 3-4 cups a day, if you need your body to adjust to it. Some woman experience contractions when first drinking it, I did, but not anymore.

I use the tea bags so I plan on putting two tea bags per cup as well to make them stronger.

And of course, right at the start of active labor, one very strong, very large cup of oh so hot rrl tea!

My mw said she wanted me to wait till 37 weeks, but I'm going to start on Friday (36 weeks). That and EPO.

So 3 cups a day for the RRL? Is that what most are doing?

And how do you do the labor mix? Isn't it double and drink as hot as you can??

I've been drinking it since 24 weeks. I have one cup a day of the Earth Mama brew..it has RRL, Nettles, Spearmint, Oatstraw, Chamomile, Rosehips and Alfalfa. I really love the taste! I've just started to up my intake to 2 cups per day. I would have earlier but it gives me really strong BH's so I don't want to overdue it. Oh and I'm 34 weeks yesterday. I have to have mine warm because drinking it cold makes me want to hurl....

I started drinking 1 cup a day at 26 weeks. I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow and I've been drinking 2-3 cups a day. I have tea bags for work and loose tea at home. I mix my RRL with Nettle. I'll probably increase to 3-4 cups a day after 37 weeks.

I have been drinking it all along, my rule is one cup starting at the end of the first trimester (was the only thing that stopped my morning sickness) 2 cups in the second trimester, and 3 in the second. I ran out a couple of weeks ago, and have just got our new order of herbs (we run a herbal business) and so i have made up my own herbal blend:

* rrl- uterine tonic, iron, calcium, potassium, vit B, C, E
* nettle- good for kidneys, prevents hemorrhoids, high in iron, potassium, vit k
* Alfalfa- high in vit k, nutritive tea
* marshmallow- soothing, anti inflammatory, laxative
* dandelion root- Vit A, B, C, potassium, calcium, blood purifier, diuretic, digestive aid.

And i also have an iron tonic made from yellow dock and dandelion root, i put in a teaspoon or two with one of my cups. Except it tastes like ass :Puke
And at night i enjoy a nice cup of chamomile with some hops added, if i cant sleep.

I am making all of my tinctures this week, and sitz bath mix etc. How do you make the syrup for the ice tea? i love ice tea just haven't made it before.

I have the Earth Mama tea too. I held off until 36 weeks and now I'm drinking 3 cups a day. I think I will make some iced. Maybe, if this baby does come this weekend ( like I want him to) then I'll start drinking 6 cups...Hmmm.....

You can always just stir the sugar in when its still hot, but I like to make sure mine is completely dissolved so it won't settle to the bottom. I pour the amount of sugar (I use 3/4 -1 cup for 3 qts (1 cup is really sweet though) into a sauce pan and add some water and put it on High. I add more water as necessary to make sure its completely dissolved and you can't see any granules at all. The you can pour it into the tea and stir it up really good.
I always eye the amount of water but I think the recipe is equal parts sugar to water (so 3/4 cup sugar and 3/4 cup water).
