We did it!

No, NO, NO pitocin!! just the breaking of waters. Labor progressed very well on its own after that. The hospital nurses looked at me like I was nuts, doula, DH and I doing laps around the maternity ward to get the cintractions going in a nice strong pattern.

I did have an epidural after 9 hours of labor. It was completely my choice. I had an odd labor pattern of back to back contractions where I didn't came down off if ine before launching into the next. They were just too hard on baby and I and he was decelling significantly during those loooooooong contraction stretches. After the epidural, he showed significant signs of improvement - probably because I was a lot calmer.

I managed to birth him vaginally in about 5 total pushes even with the epidural. One small tear, nothing major.

He was 10 lbs. even and 21 1/2 inches long !!

WAHOO! : CONGRATULATIONS!

What is his name? How are you doing?

Thank you for updating! Glad you didn't need pitocin. I had the same kind of contractions and was way too stubborn and prideful to get an epidural but i SHOULD have or i probably wouldn't have ended up wtih a c-s, so good for you!

His name is Orion Christopher

I'm doing alright. Had a hell of a two day fight with the hospital's on-call pediatrician. She was doing everything she could to get me to boarding status, gave him antibiotics with no signs of infection and a negative culture screening and didn't bother to tell DH or I until after the fact. Zero informed consent and she was showing an inappropriate attachment toward babe. We finally wrestled our way out of there at around 2 am this morning.

*sigh*
