is 'welcome with love' out of print?

so, i'm looking to buy a few homebirth books for my dd now, even though having another baby is a couple years off. i was looking on amazon and saw that 'welcome with love' is only available through other sellers and the cheapest one is almost $60!! i remember the book being available at the end of last summer on amazon :

does anyone know if this book is out of print or have some good reccs for other hb kids' books? even though having a second baby is a couple years off for our family, i'd still like to have a book on the subject hanging around the house. dd is only 11 m/o, but she loves to be read to, and i'd like to start early teaching her that birth is normal, especially considering the fact that i'm a hb midwife's apprentice. i know she won't grasp the concept this early, but at least she may enjoy the pictures, kwim?

Yes. It's out of print. Keep watching. They'd all been $60-$80 then I found one at $30 and snatched it up.

Hello Baby is the same book, just a different title. I love it!

Looks like someone caught on because I got mine for $15 last month.

Hmmmmm - maybe I need to "lose" the one I checked out of the library? I was thinking it is one we need to own since we have renewed it once already. Ds and dd can't get enough of it - sounds like it will be hard to own it inexpensively.

Please tell me you are joking!

I would hate to think you are serious about this! I borrow this book from the library in my town frequently and would be so sad if this happened!

Say it ain't so!

This is an Australian book...I have an idea

Maybe we could buy a bunch from a source in Australia and combine shipping, then disperse it to those who wanted it once it arrived stateside! It might still be available in Australia?

I am also looking for "My Brother Jimi Jazz" another great book for kids about home birth and it too is from Australia, and I can't find it here.

Anyone want to head this effort up?

Wow, I bought this last November from amazon.com and it wasn't out of print then. I'm sad to hear it is out of print now. It's a wonderful book. I noticed that my local library had a new copy as well just the other day.

I just checked and it's going for even more on half.com

No!!!! I am so not serious!! I wouldn't do that - too many other mommas that would want to borrow it. No way. I was totally kidding. I didn't realize it was out of print until I saw the posts. We like to borrow books before buying when possible to make sure my kids love it as much as I do. Reading its out of print put a damper on my plans to own it. But I wouldn't steal it from the library. Promise.

Late nite pg insomnia - clearly didn't put in any sort of joking emoticons! Thanks for letting me clarify!

I've got to know...why is it so important that the cover say Welcome With Love, when Hello Baby is the same book (as I posted above)?

i went to amazon and snatched up 'hello baby'- it was $21 something, but waaaay better than the 'welcome with love' price. there are 4 left, and all are from individual sellers, not amazon themselves. amazon is clean out of both versions of the book. it doesn't matter one way or the other- 'welcome with love' or 'hello baby'- if they're the same, then i'm fine with it.

thanks, hanno, for pointing me in the right direction for this book

I bought "Welcome with Love" from Barnes and Nobel for a perfectly reasonable price last year. When did it go out of print?

Like pp said Hello Baby is the same book. I got mine off of Amazon.com for $15 just a few weeks ago. My ds#2 loves it and is always asking me to read it to him.

if you guys get a great deal on the book in a group buy, I want it! I want a copy for my niece, whose mother has recently started embarking on a possible homebirth journey!

Can't get it in Canada either except secondhand on Chapters.ca. There's a copy on there listed for $500! The cheapest one is $25 but it has a page torn out and is an old library book...guess I'll have to borrow the copy my midwife has until I can find one of our own.

I had no idea. I think I'll have to take our copy out of the kids' bookshelf and put it up where it can't get messed up so we have it for future babies!

I just got mine in the mail last week! I got it with the title "Hello Baby" for $19, used but in perfect condition. I think it was from Amazon... (could have been eBay though.)

DS likes it, but not as much as his truck books.
