I was e-mailing her today and I mentioned how AJ had missed so much school this year. He's only been sick a few times, but each time has been 3-5 days each. She mentioned maybe rethinking getting him vaxed now that he's older and going to school w/ all the other kids and their germs. Then she asked if I knew what happened to boys who got mumps. I know she's just wathcing out for her grandkids, but it made me laugh.

This seemed to have been a bad year. My grandson who is seldom sick any more was home 3 times from school and each time missed at least 2 days and once 4 days. He got over it but it came back again, whatever it was. But it's just about over with.

Tell your mom, I know first hand what happens to boys who get mumps since my son together with his two sisters had mumps way back when...

Boys, just like girls, get life long immunity.

Oh yeah, she's great! I just hope Ilana and I have that kind of relationship before I move out. That's what it took for us to get close, me leaving. She knows we're weird, but she knows we do what we think is best and never anything lightly.

I'm so happy that my mom is not completely anti-vax. And I just had the big "we don't vaccinate" talk with MIL which I expected to go very very badly, but she... not really agrees with me, but is starting to see how we give too many shots, too early, and what the issues with that can be.
