My 15 year old son - the lactivist

My boys are 13 and 15 years old. They were both breastfed (though for a shorter time before I knew you could nurse until self weaning back then)
And they have watched me breastfeed one or both of their sisters simultaneously for the last almost 6 years constantly

They often say things about breastfeeding and don't understand the whole bottle thing, they have even commented to women outloud that they should breastfeed for at least 2 years

However, the comment my 15 year old made yesterday just left me beaming
We were watching the Oprah show about the transgender man that is now pregnant. I watched this with my sons because I want them to be tolerant of people with differnet lifestyles. I have a brother who is gay and they know about his lifestyle but don't see him very often and he is not transgender. Anyway, enough set up .....

Cory's comment was "it's too bad he had his breasts removed, he won't be able to nurse. Can the Mom breastfeed? Can she re-lactate?"

Can I say how much I LOVED that he said that??? My response to him was that yes, it was sad and although he had them removed years ago I would guess that for this short time he probably wishes he had them back I told him that if the Mom breastfed her daughters there is a good chance she could relactate, however, she has had a hysterectomy so that could make it more difficult. I wasn't sure about hormones and such.

Awww...that's sweet! So nice that they see it as such a normal, natural thing.

Smart boy!

I was thinking the same thing when I saw that story.
