Mold help...

So what does everyone use for that pinkish "mold" (at least I guess it's a mold or mildew) that occurs in the shower? I tried pure vinegar- nothing. H2O2- nothing. ---confession time--- I finally drenched it with bleach (which of course killed it) but got violently ill for the rest of the day. Even though I was raised using bleach for EVERYTHING, I don't think I can handle it anymore! I guess since we've switched to non-toxic stuff, my threshold for the bad stuff is WAYYYYYYY down!!!!

Any help?

I can't believe no one has any words of wisdom! Anyone?

Yes, you can use hydrogen peroxide. It works great for all type of mold and mildew.

I've used Bon Ami and Oxiclean (not at the same time) to scrub it and get the stains out, but it always comes back. Oxiclean works better, but it's not the most non-toxic stuff in the world. I have started to treat the shower with vinegar daily, hoping to keep it from growing back again.

Not mine, it doesn't

I like this idea; think I'll try it! Thanks!

Since nobody had any great solution. I thought I'd share that I am about to try tea tree oil on my pink stuff. I read somewhere else that it works, but have no proof yet.

Just wanted to update: I mixed up some vinegar with water and TTO and the mold has been kept at bay. I've been spraying the shower curtain with it as well and it's actually starting get rid of the pink stuff on it. Next batch will be mixed with some Dr. Bronner's as well. I'm amazed at how well it's working for us.

First, I make a paste with baking soda/castile soap (or shampoo if I don't have any) and scrub, scrub, scub with a bristle brush. Then I spray with vinegar/water mix and let it sit for 20 min, rinse, then if anything remains I spray with Hydrogen Peroxide and let it sit. Like someone else said, a regular spray of vinegar works to keep it at bay, just spray after shower is done being used for the day. Good luck.

The TTO wil definitely kill it. I have also used rubbing alcohol diluted with water as a disinfectant when I really needed too. But usually an everyother day spray with a vinegar, TTO and water spray does the trick

I have also tried to use natural cleaners to no avail. In the past I've used hydrogen peroxide with good results. And I've heard good stuff about using the peroxide & then vinegar (or visa versa) for cleaning. My problem is that I'm sensitive to vinegar. So while I can use it for some things (deterring ants, cleaning the coffee maker, etc.) I cannot use it over extremely large areas, but especially cannot use it in a spray bottle - I had red eczema like patches all over my face the last time I did that!
I too succumb to using bleach when I can't take it anymore

there is a natural cleaner called moldzyne or something like that - it's a natural enzyme that kills mold. We used that when we lived in FL. We don't have any mold problem here tho.
