They want my husband to go out of town on business!!!

Ugh! He just called me from work, he was supposed to be home for the month of April because of the baby but they just asked him if he could go to Utah for a week. He called to ask me if it was ok, I of course told him NO! I mean if he's going to get fired for it then ok (he's Union so they can't fire him for it) but I could technically go any time. He would be in Delta, UT which is in the middle of no where, his cell phone doesn't work there and he'd be 2 hours from the nearest airport so if I did go into labor there is no way he'd make it back to Atlanta on a moments notice. Ugh!
He told his boss and his boss said ok but if there is no other Winder in the country that he can find DH is going to have to go. It's for 4-5 days so there is a chance we'd be ok but I'm not willing to chance it!

It's bad enough that he has to leave for 6 weeks on May 4th for Montana :

I guess the baby can tell my stress level just went up because she's moving like crazy.

So am I nuts for not wanting him to go? Please tell me I'm not nuts for feeling guilty, I mean it's his job but they also know that I'm due any time now.

Wow, what idiots that they'd even ask!

There's a chance my husband might have to work while I'm in labor... but at least he can do his work from anywhere that he can get internet with an SSH connection, so we'll be bringing laptops to the hospital with us. Besides, they all *know* he's going to disappear as soon as I'm in labor, and are just crossing their fingers that the server move gets completed before baby starts things up!

It's awful of them for even asking!:

Hoping he gets to stay home!

Don't feel guilty - it is ridiculous that they would even ask!

Won't know anything concrete until tonight or tomorrow morning. If he was going to anywhere in the SE I wouldn't have a problem because he could get home quickly. But *middle of nowhere Utah* is not exactly where I want him to be, I mean I was only in labor for 5 hours with my 3rd and I have a feeling this one will go even faster.

That is just awful! I can't believe they have the nerve to even suggest it! :

Gosh, that sounds like my dh. My dh is interviewing for a job and was told if he got it he needs to go to new hire training in California for a week starting April 14...ummm, I'm due April 18. Not going to happen!!! I hope he doesn't have to go!

Oh that is awful. DH had to go out of town last time I was pg, maybe a month and a half or so before my due date... maybe it was even more time than that - and it was still nerve wracking. You'd think they could find someone else to go - what if your dh got in a car accident or was sick and stuck in bed or otherwise couldn't travel... Jeez! Keep your foot down and tell them to look harder for someone else to go! I hope it all works out.

That's just awful. You'd think there'd be some sort of protection for fathers-to-be to not be forced to do stuff like that. I mean, if a pregnant mama were in his position, they couldn't force her to travel -- why should a father be forced to possibly miss his child's birth? I hope everything works out, OP.

He doesn't have to go : They found someone else so he's home for the rest of April. He still has to go to Montana though on May 4th but he'll be home pretty much for good in June and July so it's all good

Oh good! I am so relieved for you!

Yeah, I know how you feel... i've had stuff like that happen to me before too! My husband is just smart enough to forget that... duh... it's not ok!

Unfortunately he won't be here for the birth of my baby unless he magically gets leave on the way back home and I magically decide to go into labor right when he's on leave. lol. With my luck he'd be home a week, and have to leave again and the baby would be born the day after he left. Ha. (he's in the navy)

I'm glad he doesn't have to go!! Mu hubby is at basic training so he won't be here when the baby is born... I just keep telling myself that it is all for the best!
