Weird cervix question...

I thought someone here might know the answer to this...

I noticed when I started TTC 6 months ago that my cervix isn't round. I'd never felt my cervix before, so I don't know if it was like this before ds was born, or if something happened during his (rather long, miserable, induction-turned-CS) birth. I thought the end of the cervix was supposed to be round, like an O, but mine isn't quite like that.

Imagine a letter C positioned horizontally instead of vertically, with the "gap" pointing towards my right side. That's what my cervix feels like. There's a definite "notched" spot. It's more obvious during my non-fertile days, but always noticeable no matter where I am in my cycle.

As I said, we've been TTC, with no luck. (From now on, TTC will be spotty due to travel and bad timing, but it's still possible.) I know my cervix shape shouldn't have an affect on conception, but assuming I do get pg, could this have an affect on the pregnancy and/or birth? If so, what?

TIA!

i'm not a birth professional but after going through some amount of labor i don't think cervices are ever O-shaped, even if the mother didn't deliver vaginally. there's a picture comparing the cervix of a woman who hasn't given birth to the cervix of a woman who gave birth vaginally in Taking Charge of Your Fertility and the first was O-shaped and the second slit-shaped. i'm guessing that having a C-shaped cervix might be normal for someone who labored but ultimately had a c-section?

Sounds perfectly normal....

Huh, you learn something new every day. I knew the cervical opening shape/size could vary, but not the actual tissue around it. Ok. Guess I'm normal after all. Thanks.
