It's my absolute favorite yarn ever!!!! Isn't it yummy???

I am contemplating a diagonal blanket for baby with a "swimming jewel "pattern throughout . . . made from stash malabrigo. Nothing's too good for baby, right??!!!

What are you going to make?

I only got one skein to try it out - I've cast on for a baby hat. I'm not really sure baby things are a great idea for this yarn though - I get the distinct feeling like it won't launder well and probably felts very easily. I was a sweater for me made out of this stuff! it's so soft.

I was just petting some Malabrigo in my mom's LYS a couple weeks ago. I really want to get some. Texaspeach, I asked someone in my SnB about it and she said it does felt very easily and does not launder very well. That makes me think it's destined for something for me instead of for the kids.

[Just as an aside, my husband was reading this as I was typing and was completely baffled about what the hell we're talking about. He said he thought a malabrigo might be some sort of weird animal and LYS was somehow related to the Latter Day Saints.]

I can see it on mutual of omaha's wild kingdom now "the fur of the mighty malabrigo is highly prized by knitters for its softness and loft. The fur gets it's characteristic nature because of the cold climate in which it lives."

It is super soft. Its nice for use with hats, scarves, etc. While its very soft for a baby it doesn't wear well for longies for walking babies, for example.
