scary scary stinky

I have noticed a strange smell in 11 year old ds' room the last few days. He kept telling me he would clean things up a bit and I thought he must have dropped an apple core behind something. He also mentioned that he needs some new socks. Our plan this morning was to do a deep clean.......... and I found, stuffed inside his drawers among all of this other clothes - about 10 pair of really, really, really stinky dirty socks.

:

I am not buying new socks this weekend - but he is getting very familiar with the washing machine!

BTDT!

My now 12 yo ds went through a phase of stuffing his dirty socks behind his bed at around 10-11. And years ago, during deep cleans of his bedroom, he would stuff everything into his dresser drawers. Didn't matter if it was clean or dirty. EEEWW.

I smelled stinky socks in my daughter's room for a week.

I searched and searched and cleaned her room and I could still smell them.

So that Sunday I went upstairs to clean out her garbage pail which had paper that I had to sort for recycling(because she threw everything in together) and when I poured her trash into a bag at the bottom was

.........

about half a cup of grated parmesan cheese..yep...the kids don't call it stinky feet cheese for nothing

I'm not sure which is worse, that or dd1's method of cleaning her room - take every item of clothing that is out and put it in the laundry. Doesn't matter if it's still folded from the last wash, into the laundry it goes.

And right back out again with a lecture.

I want to proudly brag that I've never had this problem...

because nothing ds owns ever gets put away in a drawer Everything he owns is on the floor, his drawers are all empty, his closet is filled with sticks and precious found objects (read garbage), some of his drawers are now on the ground instead of in his dresser, to make his room that much more of an obstacle course.

I don't know what it is with drawers, either nothing goes in it, or everything, half eaten food included

Sigh, please tell me they grow out of this!
