I am a fairly new doula, and I have a client due Apr. 7 with her first baby. She hired me mainly because her husband works 5 hours away and she wanted backup labor support. She is not particularly interested in a natural birth, is planning on having an epidural, doesn't mind routine interventions, etc.
She has PMH of surgery for a uterine fibroid. It was only in the outer uterine layer, and did not extend into the myometrium, thus, her current OB has OKed a vaginal birth.
She just emailed, saying that if she doesn't go into labor by one week past her due date, her OB is recommending an elective c/sec rather than labor induction because of this PMH.
HELP! Is past uterine fibroid surgery a contraindication for labor induction? Or is this OB just trying to pressure her into a c/sec?
Thanks! Katherine
