So sad today at baby/birth expo at local hospital

I was making the rounds at the annual birth and baby expo at a local hospital, when I came up to the table where the a local midwife/ob/gyn office had set up--they are fabulous--great midwives, even very natural childbirth friendly ob's (all hospital, midwives, though). VBAC friendly--I'm always reccomending them to friends. Lo and behold, what's on their table, next to brochures and business cards?

A big stack of 1st Trimester gift packs from Similac. I couldn't believe it. I really think my mouth opened right there. And then one more table down, another midwife/ob office--big giveaway cans of Similac. I was just so dissapointed. Babies R Us were there, and didn't have a single bottle or anything formula related on their giant spread of tables.

Well *that's* encouraging, anyway!

Wow, that's pretty sad. I don't know about the private OBs offices, but I know the hospital where I work (which is a huge inter-city hospital) would never do that. The LCs would curl up a die, LOL.

I just visited the most "natural" minded OB in town and came home with a "goody bag" full of Enfamil and Similac crap. Oh and a new copy of What to Expect...

I couldn't believe it and at the same time, I'm not even surprised.

Another reason why I love my homebirth midwife... the only samples I ever came home with were for RRL tea/MM tea and teeny tiny Luna bars.

I'll second that. I got samples of local WAHM baby salve! (Which was fabulous and I never would have known about it otherwise).

Definitely warrants a phone call / letter.

I second that, cc'd to all the higher ups at the hospital! What ashame that all these people are violating the WHO code. Wait a minute, some if not all of them may not even know what that is!
