Buying Felt

that is cotton and possibly organic. Am I the only person having trouble find cotton felt, specifically organic cotton felt? Anyone have some links to places that sell cotton felt, that is reasonably priced. I want to stay away from synthetics and animal products. Thanks in advance for any feedback on the subject.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I've never heard of cotton felt, and I'm not sure that such a thing even exists. From what I understand, animal fibers, such as wool, felt because of the way the fibers are structured with barbs and air pockets. Hot, soapy moisture, or barbed needles help compress the space between fibers, thus felt is "born." Not all fibers (in the wool family) felt equally (i.e. some breeds of sheep felt better than others), and not all animal fibers felt. It was my understanding that plant fibers don't felt at all - but I could be wrong.

Here's another way to think about it, you can "felt" a wool sweater, but not a cotton one if you wash it in hot water (the cotton will shrink, but not felt), so my guess is that cotton is just not one of those "felt-able" fibers.

Maybe you meant cotton velour? It is very soft too, but not truly felt.

I don't think they make cotton felt either. If it's cotton, then it can't be felt. Maybe you'd be willing to use Kunin Felt's Ecospun? It's made from 100% post-consumer recycles plastic bottles.
