I don't know if I should post this here but don't know where else to do it. I am a nursing student and plan to pursue both an FNP and CNM Masters in the next few years. DH will be changing careers around then. I need to know what you all think is the best degree/career to begin first for family security and support.

Birthing Pros--career/education question

Both are one year post grad programs?
They Both pay very well.
However I think a Family Nurse Practitioner has more immediate job opportunities after graduation in a variety of setting, a first midwifery job is not as easy to get for an inexperienced nurse.
A third way to do it is to get a job after you pass your RN boards and then have the hospital pay for your education
. You will not feel as rushed and will have an excellent salary coming in (and you build up a resume and get a couple of years nursing experience).
I have a a lot of friends on the same path. They were broke, so they needed to get jobs as an RN immediately after graduation then worked on the post grad (the hospital pays for eduction).
Good luck!
