'Just one more"

Thread Starter
DH and I decided to try a theory of 'just one more'. For example if the trash bag is full, instead of empting it, how about we put 'just one more' thing in there. The toothpaste is empty? or can we get 'just one more' brushing from it. The car needs gas... can it wait just 'one more day' same concept for end of shampoo, body lotion etc. Doing a load of wash.. add' just one more piece' While the difference will be minimal over time that should add up.

Also any bills that are on payment plans we are doing 'just one more dollar to send" so if we were going to pay $50 we send $51 (we have a few medical bills to pay off etc)

I know most families are feeling the $$ pinch and maybe our 'just one more' can help you too.

I love this idea!!

We already do this with toothpaste and laundry. I totally dig the idea of trying to apply it to almost everything. (Well, except gas- that scares me a little.... )

Thanks!

Ah. I like your theory!

(However, as a procrastinator, I can see this backfiring. Trash never getting taken out, etc. )

Sounds like a good idea except for the gas thing. I always try to make sure I have enough gas in the car to cover me in case of emergency.

lol, we've always done this but sometimes just one more breaks the garbage bag, has left me stranded on the side of the road with an empty tank, nearly burning out our washing machine since it's overloaded, ect... So just more more with caution because sometimes there are only so many mores something can take

yep, great idea, except the gas. My auto mechanic friend told me that you really shouldn't ever let your car go below 1/4 or 1/5 a tank, because over time sediment drops to the bottom of the tank and when you're getting down to the last little bit of gas you're pulling that sediment into your engine. Over time, if you do it repeatedly (get down to a virtually empty tank) that you can do some serious damage to your engine from the sediment. So, I really try to not go below 1/4 tank!

Yep, you can also blow your fuel pump this way. And that's $600 I don't want anyone else to have to spend! And it's hard to fix yourself, because in most cars these days, the fuel pump is in the fuel tank, so you have deal with getting out however much gas is still in your tank... And when your car quits, you're just stranded where ever you are... Please don't drive with less than a 1/4 tank!

But I love your other ideas - I am a serious offender when it comes to toothpaste tubes. I like to throw them out when the going gets rough, but DH keeps on to the bitter end. Sometimes we have two open tubes...

I think we paid about $100 to do our fuel pump, DH jacked up the car, dropped the fuel tank and replace the pump. If I had replaced my fuel filter regularly it wouldn't have been a problem in the first place.
