The fabric I used for the Betty Boop and the pink dot diapers is all flannel. They're both 1 layer of flannel outer, 2 hidden layers of flannel (from an OLD sheet I cut up) and 1 layer of flannel inner. They're pockets (so they'll neede soakers) but I'm not sure DH is going to want to stuff them seeing as his hands are so big, so I might just use the microfiber towels I found as Canadian Tire, and cover them with flannel on each side, and tri-fold them inside the diaper.
The first two diapers are AOIs, and were made from recycled t-shirts I got from the Salvation Army. They have 4 body layers and 6 layers in the hidden internal soaker (with a layer of terry cloth sandwiched in between). These were a REAL pain to sew because the jersey moves around so much. Also, I've been told drying time is really long with these because of all the layers, which is why I switched over to pockets.
I'm in Québec and there's no place to get PUL or all that other fancy microfleece stuff without forking out the cash to order it online! Seeing as a) I'm poor and b) I was impatient to start sewing, I just went through the discount bins at Fabricville and found cute flannel for 3.99$/meter. The rest of the material is all found in DH and DSS' closet, at the thrift store, or in the automotive section at Canadian Tire.
As for patterns, the recycled t-shirt diapers were made from the free Darling Diaper pattern (which is actually written for stretch material like jersey):

And from Shar's newborn fitted pattern:

The pink dot and Betty Boop diapers are from Shar's newborn pocket:

The blue flannel is from Rita Rump Pocket (and is SO simple to make with only 2 layers of flannel).

For covers, since I don't have access or money for PUL, I'm making fleece covers or covers out of recycled sweaters
