casein knitting needles?

At the wool shop today, I saw casein knitting needles. They were much less expensive than bamboo, but very light. The ladies at the store said they like them, but they also love acrylic yarn, and they eat donuts while they knit, so I feel like I need another opinion. Anybody got one?

I love them! Nice & flexible, the yarn slides nicely on them but they don't fall out easily, etc.

Problems - they don't come smaller than size 2, so I can't use 'em on socks (majorly loose knitter here). My cats chew the ends (they do this w/wood too).

They're great, though. What brand are you looking at, and what size?

(acrylic yarn for knitting? eewww... I hate the way it feels!)

They are Swallow Brand, made in Australia. I bought some. I find them too flexible, though they are warm and smooth. Nicer than the steel hand-me downs that I have, but not as nice as wood. The store stocks a lot of sizes, though, which is a good thing, and casien needles are half the price of wood.
