Have you read Twinkie, Deconstructed?

I just finished this book. It was really interesting. The author traces each ingredient in Twinkies from it's origins. He follows the wheat from farm to grain mill, etc. It was fascinating to really learn where all the artificial additives come from. A lot of them are petroleum based. Eeeewww. Even the things that aren't toxic themselves are processed with highly toxic chemicals, which they assure us are cleared out before they become ingredients. Yeah, sure they are!
Ugh! Not that I was going to eat Twinkies anytime soon but... :Puke
Most of this stuff is in all processed foods, not just Twinkies.
The author is not even remotely TF. He definitely follows the mainstream thinking and seems to believe them when they say certain things are "perfectly safe to eat" but, still, he has done his research on the processing of the ingredients. It's well worth reading.

It's in my cart on Amazon, but I haven't bought it yet. I have to go on a self-proclaimed book ban again. I have a pile that needs to be read lol!

Ah, so good to know I'm not the only one!

I had made real progress there for a few years... giving away more than I bought. Realizing that if I hadn't read them in 5 years, I probably never would.

But I've started again... I seem to collect them like badges.

I really want to buy this Twinkie book for my mom... she needs to know what's in those things.

It looks pretty interesting. I put it on hold at the library a few weeks ago, and I think it's finally ready for pickup. So I will be reading it soon!
