All Clad and Le Creuset are exactly what I am looking for. I am keeping an eye out at the local yard sales and flea markets as a friend keeps finding various Le Creuset pieces at yard sales.
As far as I know, All Clad is still made (for the most part) in the USA. I am willing to spend more on an American made product, assuring superior quality. |
Most All Clad is still made in the US. There are some specialty items (asparagus steamer, 12qt multi-pot, etc) that are MIC. The MIC items have a brushed SS finish instead of a shiny one. Also, some of the lids for the regular pots are MIC too. I'm thrilled with my US made AC, but there is a definite difference in the MIC pieces, they aren't nearly as nice.
I buy my All Clad from CookwarenMore. They offer factory seconds (cosmetic flaws only) at discounted prices. Two of the four pieces I've ordered from there I've never found anything wrong with.
I see Le Creuset often at TJ Maxx, but I haven't bought any from them so I haven't checked to see what the quality is (first quality, seconds, etc). I have bought first quality items from evilbay though.
