Help for severely chapped lips?

What can I use to heal chapped lips? I've never really had that problem before and use lip balm regularly, but a few weeks ago they started getting chapped. I thought maybe it was because I started washing my face with my bar of Dr. Bronner's and it was too drying for my lips. I haven't washed with it in over a week and they're just as bad. I thought they were starting to get better but they aren't. I drink lots of water. I did have the flu this weekend, so that may be why they're still really bad. I've used shea butter, lip balm, coconut oil, some leftover lansinoh from the hospital for breastfeeding. Nothing is working. My lips feel so tight, they burn and I have little vertical lines all over them.

Help!

Does it come in unflavored? I'm not a fan of apple. I like to eat apples but don't like apple scented stuff. I'm weird.

My lips desperately need something though. I don't understand why the shea butter doesn't work. It even specifically says on the jar "For dry, cracked skin". Hello??? That's what I have!

I have been using Vitamin E Ruby Lip Gloss made by Garden of Eden in St. Paul ever since college. (And that's uh...awhile). It comes in a little tub and leaves a faint, very faint reddish shine on your lips, but that's secondary to the incredible anti-chap action the stuff provides. I had chapped lips my whole life (till I met a woman in my dorm from MN who had some of this) and it totally saved them. I swear by it.

They do not sell it on the website, you have to call them to order. I think it's something like $5/per tub. 800.405.5545

Yep. And it also comes in orange or cocoa mint.

I just wanted to say, I've had chapped lips my whole life...they would bleed and peel and were horribly painful. I started using this stuff at the beginning of this winter, and my lips are so soft with no more bleeding and peeling.

For the past two winters, I have gotten extremely chapped lips. Beyond chapped. I did some research and saw my dermatologist and here's what I learned.
1. Lipbalms are almost always white petrolatum based. That will only help them not to lose moisture, so once they're chapped or damaged, it does nothing.

2. Chronic chapping can really be due to eczema of the lips, essentially.

3. Keep using the shea butter! I slathered it on for two weeks before they finally improved and it did finally go away and have been clear since (several months). I also use Burts Bees.

Vitamin E...just break a capsule open and put it on your lips.

That's why I love love love the balm I posted the link to. It contains no petroleum products, and it's all natural.

I guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. The lip balm I use is not petroleum based and is one I've used for a couple years. I think they are *starting* to get better, slowly. I really dislike the dry feeling!
