New Convert: Resource Recommendations?

I've been on mdc for a while now and had noticed and browsed this thread a couple of times. Recently, I had an opportunity to attend a weekend-long seminar on Healthy, Traditional Diets and was interested primarily because I knew there were a lot of people on here who were believers. The seminar was by Sally Fallon and was fantastic. Better than I could have imagined.

Everything she said made such perfect sense. And, I've been struggling with a lot of health problems recently and her words really gave me a lot of insight into what is going on. Like that my episode of pancreatitis last year was actually probably related to being on a low fat diet for most of my life. And how I probably have vitamin A deficiency along with my already-diagnosed vitamin D deficiency.

It's frustrating that I've been trying to eat healthily for so long and have really not been doing that at all!

I am really happy to have learned of this, especially while my daughter is still young. I purchased Nourishing Traditions and have used it quite a bit already.

In my first week, I made ketchup, ginger carrots, cream cheese, leg of lamb, beef and lamb broths/soups, soaked oatmeal, peach butter, and lots of eggs!

If anyone has other recommendations for great resources, I'd love to hear about them!

Congratulations, you're off to a great start!! Welcome to the fun

You'll definitely want to start taking cod liver oil for your vitamin A and D deficiencies. A lot of people here like the Blue Ice brand (we take it in cinnamon flavor and my 2yo son drinks it right off the spoon). Here's a website where you can get a good price if you're just buying a couple bottles at a time Blue Ice If you're buying a dozen or so products all at once, people say you get a better price at the Green Pastures website.

You could also try incorporating some super foods like acerola cherry powder and nutritional yeast. Just mix them into other things like breakfast smoothies.

You'll probably want to get hooked up with some milk kefir grains and a kombucha scoby. Lots of folks here enjoy kefir in their morning smoothies and kombucha for drinking anytime

Thanks! I saw it after I had posted and there are lots of great ideas there.

I love cinnamon - once I finish my current bottle of CLO, I will order that one.
