Dr. Phil Today

I was thrilled at the supportive comments from The Doctors today regarding NIP!

They said just what I was thinking.

I was not expecting that on such a mainstream show!!

Just because its mainstream doesn't mean its stupid.

I think any intelligent person, with HALF a brain, knows that NIP is no big deal.

I seriously don't put ANY stock into people that are anti-NIP.. they just ain't worth my time. Ignorance, plain and simple.

I seem to remember Dr. Phil being quite pro-bfing in the past?

I'm glad that Dr. Phil is pro-breastfeeding! He's usually so conservative that I generally discount a lot of what he says.

I think you might remember wrong. If he is pro (which I have a hard time believing) it's only for very young babies. His children were both FF.

Just because you FF doesn't mean you can't be pro-breastfeeding. But you know I could be remembering wrong.

i watched that show. he said he was uncomfortable with the idea of older children (5 or older) nursing but he did quite the US guidelines and the WHO guidelines and cited doctors who said that nursing as long as mother and child were comfortable with it was a good thing.

IME, he's pretty unpredictable and will do nearly anything for ratings!

Well, I for one could care less about why he says what he says- he's bringing a positive light on NIP, and CLW (to some extent) and I think that deserves a head nod of approval..... for today anyway! LOL

I'm going to guess that was his wife's fault. IMO, she doesn't seem like the time who will put much effort into anything

I don't really want to ruffle any feathers but we have no idea what the feeding situation was..... unless you have spoken with Dr. Phil or his wife personally, I don't think it is right to assume it was laziness. Just my opinion.

Wow, I can think of a lot of things to snark on Robin about, but her parenting is not one of them. Every time they've had Dr Sears on, she seems very into what they're saying, and when Dr Phil said something stupid about babies and sleep, she spoke up and said she never, ever let her boys cry, ever.

And I don't think you can judge a person for a decision she made to formula feed well over twenty years ago. I know plenty of people who would do differently had they had the information and support that's available today.
