ugh! so gross

I just found out I have mice in my kitchen.

Totally not pregnancy related, but I felt like whining a bit, since I have to clean it, and I REALLY don't want to.... I know I should have held out for the one time cleaning lady my mom offered to pay for.....

but Nooooo.. I said "put it in the baby's savings fund, I can clean my teeny house!!!"

And, I have never had seasonal allergies, and today, the first truely nice day of the summer, I'm sneezing my fool head off.

There's a thread right now in Mindful Home Management about dealing with mice.

Fortunately, I don't have to take a professional interest in it. The one on pantry moths, OTOH...

so i found the thread in mindful home management, and immediately zoned in on the post mentioning hantavirus, and had to go look up hantavirus since my mom, my husband and I all got sick this week....

I stopped just short of packing hubby in the car and taking a trip to the emergency room.... the only thing that stopped me was remembering the looks we got when I made him go to the ER and ask to be tested for Anthrax... (there was a good reason, i swear!!!)

(yes, i am a hypochondriac...)

OMG.
we have themtoo!!

IT all started a couple days ago when dh pulled a drowned one out of the kitchen sink plug!!!!!!!!

ICK!

We've caught three in two days! We're hoping they just got in because we haven't seen anything bitten into and no droppings around the kitchen (only under the sink).

Yeah. Hantavirus is scary stuff! But so is murine typhus and histoplasmosis and the bubonic plague!!!!!! Wear a mask when cleaning so you don't breathe anything in!

You should see our kitchen! Everything is moved out of it's regular place and dh has traps all over
Needless to say we went out to breakfast the morning we caught the two mice!

Well- i went to the CDC reporting website and found out that there has been only one reported caes of hantavirus since the disease was discovered in 1993, and the man contracted it in New York, so I'm willing to bet tha twe really do only have sinus infections... But I cleaned the drawer out, and while I didn't wear a mask, i threw everyhting in the dishwasher and threw out the utility trays... I'm making DH clean the actual drawer when he gets home tonight. I don't want to contaminate my vacuum
