I had to avoid this board for a while when I realized that all the babies being born were making me feel even more anxious than I already was. I spent the last few weeks before my baby was born feeling pretty overwhelmed, missing my baby who I lost, and I guess saying goodbye to both pregnancies. So, I'm sorry I've missed out on all the births, and I'll do my best to catch up.
I'm happy to report that I have a new son, Theodore, aka "Theo" or "Teddy", or as my 4 year old calls him "the new baby". He was born 3/29, and was 9 pounds 10 oz! Almost a pound and half more than my biggest baby before him. I am only 5' 2", so I'm not sure how I fit such a large baby inside me -- or how I managed to get him out.
I haven't written the whole birth story yet, but here's the short version. I ended up having a very rough 12-hour labor with a posterior baby who was much larger than anyone imagined. There were a few scary moments with his heartrate, and I also ended up having an epidural because I had been trying to fight an overwhelming urge to push for hours, yet was stuck at 8 cm. I had the support of some wonderful midwives and my sweet dh, and in the end managed to give birth vaginally. I feel disappointed about having had the epidural, but I try to remind myself that I did the best I could with a crappy situation. Once my midwife said that I might rip my cervix if I kept pushing, that was all I needed to hear.
I hope you all are doing well with your new babies; I will try to catch up on posts between feedings. This boy eats all the time!
Oh, and a few pictures...
Big baby!
