there are so many negative threads (and understandably!) about doctors unknowledgeable/unsupportive of nursing. so i thought i'd share a positive one.
i took 11 m.o. DD in to the doc for a fever she had. we saw a different doctor than normal because ours was OOT. i was kind of prepared for BFing stupidity
anyway, that's not at ALL what happened. i was explaining DD had lost her appetite w/ the fever but was still nursing lots and having plenty of wet dipes. so she just said, "well, don't worry a bit about her not eating. breastmilk is the best thing for her right now anyway!"
she also liked that i wanted to latch DD on for the ear check (only way DD would do it without crying), since "it's the best way to calm them" and "thank goodness for breastfeeding!"
and then when she discovered a slight ear infection, her first piece of advice was to squirt breastmilk in her ear!
btw, DD's fever broke the same day all on its own and she is on the mend!
