Would you take a client like me?

Thread Starter
First birth... 3 days labor ended in c section for ftp at 9cm.

Second... was very prepared and handled contractions very well, stalled slightly at 9cm, ob pushed cervix out of the way but the baby's heart was deceling when I began pushing him out so forceps were used and I am left with a 4th degree tear.

Would you take a client like me? Would you counsel against going for another VBAC?

Thanks for your inputs. I am happy to elaborate more if necessary.

So your concern is about the previous 4th degree tear? I personally don't think that's a contraindication. There are several threads around here about subsequent birth after 3rd and 4th degree tears. To me, your history of tearing is irrelevant to being a VBAC.

That said, I don't currently do VBACs.

I agree with Nashvillemw--the things you mention do not sound like deal breakers. And while some mws don't do HBAC, some do!

good luck finding the mw who works for you

In NYC you are a pretty typical client for a CNM who attends vbac at home.

Nothing that you posted about the circumstances would rule you out for a VBAC. You had medically manged births, once using a midwifery model of care outside of a hospital the birth would have an opportunity to unfold differently.

Good luck.

yep, you sound fine.
only cavats I see is in licensed states that don't allow licensed midwives to attend vbac.
