technique help needed :)

I am knitting my first longies in the round and using the Itchy Fingers pattern off of rav. So far I am loving it- but am now to the part where I am supposed to thread a long darning needle and graft together the stitches on the 2 crotch gusset needles. I know the point is to close the gusset- but I have no idea how to do that properly. I think I could get them sewn- but I really want it to be right.

Also- could I do both legs at the same time on 1 circ (ML style?) I don't know how to do that- but it really isn't any different than 2 socks at the same time right? I haven't done that either though. Then I won't get so bored and not finish the second leg- plus they will be the exact same length.

Thanks in Advance!

I dont have that pattern, but what it sounds like to me is you need to Kitchener the sts together.

I transfer them to DPN and then do the Kitchener.

go here and scroll down to finishing. Theres a video that shows how http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/knitting-tips

It's also called "grafting", so if you google for Kitchener stitch or grafting, you should find lots of instructions. It's a bit of a tricksy technique, but once you finally get it, you'll find all kinds of uses for it.

One tip: if one set of instructions isn't working for you, try another set. They all explain basically the same thing, but they explain it very differently. I didn't totally get grafting until I saw a video of Elizabeth Zimmerman doing it on stitches that were off the needles.
