Tips for making yogurt dough crackers?

Hello mamas,

I found this recipe http://www.thenourishinggourmet.com/...-crackers.html

Quote:
The night before cream in a large bowl:

1 cup of plain whole yogurt
1 cup of butter, softened

Mix in:

3 1/2 cups of freshly ground spelt or wheat flour
2 teaspoons of salt

Cover and leave in a warm place for 12 to 24 hours (this is the "soaking" part). Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Using white flour to dust your surface and dough, roll your dough out thin. Cut into strips and then cut into squares.

Place your squares on an ungreased cookie sheet and prick with a fork. Bake for about 8 minutes and check, keep checking every two minutes until done. They should be browning slightly on the edges, when done. Take off of sheet and place on a cooling rack and enjoy!

These crackers are great as a basic cracker to use with a cheese plate, or to go with a soup.

I have raw goat yogurt, regular organic cow's butter, spelt and sea salt.

I've never made this kind of thing before. Any suggestions or tips? Have you made these and had them turn out ok? Can I add honey so they are a bit sweeter?

TIA,
Tracy

I've made them before and they were lovely. Never tried adding sweetner, but you would have to be more careful that they didn't catch.
This dough is delicious as a pizza base also. :

That's the yogurt dough recipe from NT, just cut into crackers and baked. I used to do it all the time. I would add 1/2 cup rapadura to mine before I went GFCF. I'm not sure honey would work due to the extra fluid and stickiness.

I use this dough as the basis for a LOT of recipes on my archive, too. It works well for a variety of things.
