Final Freedom - What are you doing?

So those of us 'waiting' to have our babies - what are you doing besides waiting?! Anything fun/pampering for yourself? A date night with your partner?

For DH and I, I really want to make sure we take time to do a few more 'just us' or adult things. The birth of our babies will be our initiation into parenthood and, while exciting, I have no doubts that it will completely change our lives and leave us with severe sleep deprivation for the first 4 months

This weekend we're getting together with a bunch of my old college friends - some who live in the area and others in from the East Coast - for a potluck. We always did potluck dinners in undergrad, and it'll be a nice revival get together!

I had a lot of things planned for this, the last week before my due date. It was completely by accident, and when I realized last weekend how much was on the calendar and how miserable I felt, I thought I would probably skip out on a lot of it. But I've found that I need the distractions, and that being out and about is good because it tires me out and helps me to sleep a little better (better than Sunday night when I was up EVERY hour!).

My birthday was last Friday, and I got a prenatal massage, and then went out to dinner with DH. On Saturday we went to a nearby farm and got to hold baby goats and pet baby sheep (I was in heaven), and then we went out to see a movie, the first in a long while. Tuesday and Wednesday nights this week I've had work-related dinners, and tonight I have dinner with a friend visiting from out of town. And on Saturday a friend's son is having his 1st birthday BBQ, and the weather's supposed to be beautiful.

So that's my new strategy - suck up the complaints about how hard it is to move around, and just go to stuff to keep my mind occupied!

I savor every time I get in and out of my car without dealing with putting a child in a carseat...that's freedom!

I even skip the Starbucks drive-thru just to enjoy the ease of having baby in me, instead of with me.

I went and got a pedicure today...the first in 9 years!!! It was nice. My other treat is that I don't have my 2 year old today. I agree with carseat thing!!! It is SOOOOOO much easier to do things when you aren't trying to get a kid in and out of a carseat!!
