Help! What happened to my butter?

Welcome back MDC!

OK Mamas, I make butter in my KA all the time - but last night I tried to make some and I don't know what happened! It won't separate. IT just whips and whips and whips - now it tastes sort of like whipped, slightly sweet butter. Any ideas?

Possibly important information:
-I left my cream on the counter all day. I usually leave it out to warm up, but not that long, and it was warmer than usual yesterday (high 60s).

And most importantly! What can I do with this now? I don't want to chuck it - can I bake something? Give me a suggestion!

TIA!

How fresh was your cream? If its too fresh, it doesn't like to separate. If it's too cold or too hot it also doesn't like to separate.

It sounds like what you have right now is whipped cream. Use it on top of some fruit for a treat. Or you can try whipping it again. It won't hurt it any.

Yeah, all is not lost!

Butter likes to form at around 50 degrees F.
Try it again when it's been out of the fridge for a shorter period, the way you usually do.

Freshness has never been a problem for us. Our milk is from Gournsey cows, so maybe that's part of the difference?

Worked like a charm! Thanks! Phew - I hate the idea of wasting it
