This is my post from last night and the update below;

fever 102
insane cramps
chills
nausea
dizziness
headache

a tylenol will lessen the symptoms but they come back full force. called midwife who didn't call back. i think i'm going to head to the er in the morning.

just when i was starting to feel better (pain)...sheesh

Called midwives twice (once last night, once this morning) with no reply. Temp hit 39 last night and had insanely bad cramps. Went to the ER this morning. Resting heartrate was 133, my blood pressure was high, temp was 38, pussy flow and severely dehydrated.

They put me on iv fluids and a big dose of antibiotics. Did bloodwork and ultrasound. Ultrasound showed inflamed tissue consistent with endometritis.

I have 2 drugs to take 3 and 4 times a day and a vag cream! Yeah for me!

If I don't feel a lot better within 48 hours I have to go back.

What a pain in the ass eh?!

They said I should start feeling better by tomorrow. My midwife finally called back after 24 hours. They are supposed to get back to you within 1-2 hours.

Feeling a bit crampy but my appetite is back and I'm feeling less dehydrated. They were super nice at the hospital. I was the first let in through triage and it took about 4 hours to do all the tests so that's good.

The doc did freak me out though. Before he started all the tests he said that it was either retained placenta or an infection. Worse case scenario was a d/c or in the case of bad infection, 4 days in the hospital on iv antibiotics. Seriously not what I wanted to hear! Luckily my bloodwork came back great, the infection is in it's early stages so I got to come home with oral antibiotics.

Wow, how scary. I'm glad you're on the mend though. What caused the infection?

No idea. I transferred to the hospital for the pushing stage and ended up with a million hands up my cooch as well as an internal monitor so it could have been bacteria from any of those things.

My dh's acquaintance was stunned with my diagnosis. She said that it was the leading cause of death in the 18th century for new moms.

I'm so done with my midwives.
