TMI, because I won't talk in metaphors

I had that problem with T - it alternated between extreme constipation (like going every 4-5 days) and then, when I would eat "too much" (= more than 1 cup of food total per meal), I would have horrible diarrhea. I was SO glad when that ended. I think with the latter my body was saying "no! NO! Get this OUT! No! No crap! Need PROTEIN! NOW!". Could be that your body was reacting to fantastic Dome Vendor Vittles. Especially if you had a hot dog. Mmm, nitrates.

Two things have helped me with this: slow sipping of milk (and for me, milk only - no yogurt, no cheese, no other alternate dairy products) and slippery elm. The slippery elm was MAGICAL. Killed the heartburn in an instant - unfortunately the consistency and taste became a gag trigger plus limited amounts of Tums. And my midwife told me last time that Zantac was ok too, but I never took it, because the milk and the tums worked.

I experienced a miracle today: after consulting my homeopathy manual I isolated a remedy for my pregnancy sickness - constant nausea, empty, lead-in-stomach feeling, feel better for vigorous exercise, wanting to be alone and not interacting or even talking to people - and took one dose and my nausea went away in 5 minutes and did not come back all day. hooray, hooray, hooray. I even felt good enough to drink some kombucha with my dinner. Heck, I felt good enough to actually cook dinner!!!

I just found these 2 products, I haven't used them yet but all of the other products this company makes are exceptional.

hey, jen, would you be kind enough to share your remedy? those sound exactly like my symptoms!!

(another question: i like kombucha -- the store-bought kind, since i don't make my own -- but wasn't sure if it was safe/beneficial during pregnancy?)

chic2chic - the remedy I took was sepia, just a standard boiron 30c blue tube.

Kombucha is supposed to be good for you during pregnancy - for a while I was actually craving it - like the first 2 weeks - and if you drank it before your pregnancy, you can drink it safely during pregnancy. However, if you haven't tried it before, you shouldn't try it for the first time during pregnancy, because you don't know how your body will react.

And it's super-easy to make your own kombucha - it's just such a commitment to drink it all for me right now that I'm thinking of looking for a "foster family" for my scoby.

How much B6 is considered a healthy amount while pregnant? I am more nauseated with this one than I was with the first and could use a break from teh queasies to actually eat something healthy.

Oh, and I had been wondering why I was craving Lucky Charms 24/7. I checked out the nutrition panel-- they are super-fortified with folate, B6, and B12! Plus, of course, magically delicious.

I have no clue what this means!!! Help me! Where would I find it?

I feel worse today, ever since yesterday evening actually. Even though I eat throughout the night I kept waking up because I felt so sick. Normally once I start eating I'm okay, but I've had a really hard time getting anything down... just when I thought things were looking up.

my whole foods market sells homeopathic remedies, as do many health-food stores. boiron is the name of the company that makes them -- all the tubes are blue. you just take a couple of pellets (don't eat/drink anything for at least 10-15 minutes before and after).

blah.....I'm in the same boat as the rest of you gals.

I feel hungry....but yet nothing sounds good. I hate forcing myself to eat. HATE HATE HATE IT! I know I should be drinking more.....but yet I'm not really thirsty either. *sigh*

I have found that once I do throw up I feel better.....so maybe I should just quit fighting it?

I am worried wee one isn't getting what he/she needs. But at the same time cooking food, or trying to eat isn't going well for me either.

I hope I don't feel this way the entire time. That would really suck!

Thanks! We have a small WFM here, I'll send Dh to look for it!

Just do note that there are a LOT of different remedies that can help nausea in pregnancy - sepia happened to fit my profile really well but it may not be perfect for everyone. A major part of the sepia profile is a burning desire to be alone... thoughts are sluggish, you just want to stare at the ceiling, you can't get moving, you're emotional and are worse for sympathy and consolation.

For instance, I just consulted with abchomeopathy.com and had pulsatilla recommended for my condition, but when I added my lovely 'rhoids to the picture the recommendation switched to sulphur?!

My first dose "held" (kept symptoms away) for nearly a whole day. I think I took one dose the next day and then another dose that night before bed. I may be morphing to a different remedy. That happens.

In homeopathy you only ever want to take the smallest necessary dose. If you take a dose and the symptoms go away, you were successful and you should stop until symptoms return. If you take a dose and symptoms kind of go away, then you can take another dose (like after 1/2 hour, you feel a little better but not completely, try another dose). If you take a couple of doses and nothing happens, you have the wrong remedy. What you should not do is keep taking your remedy when your symptoms are gone because this could actually cause you to "prove" the remedy - your symptoms will return with a vengeance and get WORSE! (which of course we all want to avoid!)

hmm... I'm confused, the website offered 7 different treatments, but didn't ask for all of my symptoms. If I could just get the brick in stomach feeling to go away that would be a huge help! Everything you've described in your posts matches my symptoms. I so want to be alone, I won't even return calls to my family. I layed in bed for like an hour this morning because I just couldn't get up. sigh. If only it could just be next January...

Well, Holly, it's really hard to go wrong with homeopathy. If you take the wrong remedy, nothing will happen. It won't hurt you. If you have the right remedy, you will notice a change. So give it a whirl - if it helps, you'll know, and if it doesn't, it's the wrong remedy. jen

i'm taking the sepia since yesterday evening, and i think it's helping a little. (this morning i definitely felt better, for instance)

I just stumbled upon something this morning that has me feeling better (maybe!). Last night my sister had me drink some electrolyte plus C in some water and I woke up this morning feeling hungry, but after eating I did not feel sick! I felt so good that we went to storytime at the library and the park. And now I feel like cleaning my house. And all kinds of food is sounding good. I stopped today and got some more electrolyte water and so far I"m still feeling good. I hope this lasts. But I'm definitely going to look into the homeopathy.

bleh. feeling icky. I managed to eat my lunch today, but wasn't that into it. the only things that sound good are as follows:
frozen peaches, frozen berries, sauerkraut.

that's it. everything else I just chew and swallow cuz I know I have to...

The nausea has began here. I definately can relate to being STARVING but nothing sounding good. It's not so bad and worse some days, very managable right now. Just hoping it doesn't get any worse.

When I think of a food, I pretty much have to eat it right then. If it takes more than 5 minutes to prep it, then I won't be interested in it by the time I get done preparing it. Sad, but true.
God, that's me to a T! I have to say though, after a m/c, I'm somewhat thankful for the nausea this time around. Its like a three hour reminder that, yes - I'm still pregnant!
